FS2004 Addons Recommendations?

LTCSZ

Recommended Posts

Just returning to FS2004 after an absense of several years...Finally got my program installed after taking Disk 4 to the local Game Spot and having them polish it up...Now I would appreciate any advice as to the basic addons i need to get the program running and looking as best as I can...I assume I need some sort of universal scenery addon and some more complex airports...Any advice appfreciated!

I can tell you right now you'll want a weather engine replacement. The default weather engine in FS2004 and FSX has been very flaky. Give ActiveSky a shot. I use Active Sky 2016 and Active Sky Cloud Art in FSX myself.

Now for a question: Did you in fact install FS2004 to the root of C:\\ drive? If not, you'll want to do that as you'll get all kinds of issues with it being in the emulated? programs folder. Windows Vista on up protects the programs folder in such a way that it can cause conflicts with add-ons. So just want to point that out right now. If you haven't installed to the root of C drive, then now's a good as time as any without adding add-ons to uninstall and then reinstall to C. You'll be better off in the long run before you begin to add add-ons.

Another add-on I would get is Editvoicepack and with WOAI or what ever AI planes you install you'll have their updated callsigns and models, etc. Once you install AI I would get into the habit of updating your default airports as you fly to them by either buying them if available or downloading them from here in the library. That way you have adequate parking for your AI.

Also, don't use 100% on AI, you will more than like have FPS issues. I set my AI slider to 30% and it's a good balance of AI flying around me, landing and taking off and parking use. I probably could push it up to 40%, but then ATC will be ultra loaded with constant communications. Bad enough I have that issue in heavy traffic areas like Southern California. Plus I have loads of GA flying around.

Anyway, this site's parent store is a great place to shop at. So far I haven't had any issues. https://www.fspilotshop.com/

Last one I Promise.....Sascha's FS9 Evo Superb https://plus.google.com/117587056222120146687

Like I Mentioned above wayyyyyy to many to list...If I where to sit here depicting all the stuff they have out there for FS9 my hair would most definitely start falling off.

Just to many to list..... most of the other stuff you see on my screenshot page are freeware stuff you can get here on flightsim and Avsim Library. ohh yes and the freewarescenery page.. I spend A Lot of time in that site hunting down the goodies.

Witch reminds me talking about screenshots and it just dawned on me SweetFX 1.5.1 is superb. Another little Add-on you can get for FREE

Nobody mentioned Ultimate Terrain? Before any airfield scenery, UT is what makes FS9 into a simulator. I make my airfields for UT and I cannot imagine not having it installed. Thanks for the praise from someone who commented earlier, but I am slowing to a halt in scenery making.

Ohh Yes and one I'm currently flying in, VOZ complete Package for Australia.

Due Note that if you have [Ez-Scenery] or [Rwny12] Installed it is wise to Remove the duplicate Objects found in the VOZ EZ-Library, VOZ Scenery folder.
