Avechelice
Hello, I installed the vanilla FS2004 In Windows 10 Enterprise The sim run very fine I have just a big problem :) I can't add any scenery by the library GUI or even manually as if I add a scenery manually (by editing scenery.cfg accordingly) when FS2004 start I have a notification screen as I must run the application with admin rights Of course I have administrator full control on the hard disk and I run FS2004 (FS9.EXE) as administrator Anyone have a clue ... a solution ? I can give more details if needed for better understanding Regards.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a/bye.gif If you gave a couple of monkeys a box of ballpoints, enough paper, and enough time, they'd eventually finish up writing the complete works of Shakespeare :)
KCD
Did you load FS9 to C:\FSP, or did you allow a Microsoft install to a C:\Program Files\FS-9 situatiomn? The latter will cause you nothing but troube, and i advise that you uninstsll and start over with a manual install to C:|. Also, before you do that, do a search on FS9 and W10 on this site and read about it.

longbreak754
This is a Windows permissions problem. First, note that the scenery.cfg is stored outside of the FS2004 install on the C:\ and is being controlled by Windows to some extent. Having an login account with Admin privileges does not always mean that you have FULL access to everything. Likewise, running FS2004 as admin only affects the called process of the core program that are activated by the commands contained within the .exe file Temporarily turn off UAC (User Account Controls) and test (google UAC to find out how to do this and get info on the implications of doing so). If you can now add scenery via the GUI or manually, then you know it is a permissions problem associated with the folder where the scenery.cfg file is. Having established if this the case, you can then test UAC at the various levels to see if there is a setting that provides protection but allows you to add scenery. Or you can return UAC to the original setting and then change the security attributes of the folder that contains the scenery.cfg file so that you have full control of the folder and all subfolders/files that it contains (again google the process). Another possible workaround is to use a scenery library tool such as Scenery Config Editor (SCE) (see HERE to download and HERE for info and instruction on how to use). SCE is freeware and will allow you to add scenery without starting FS2004. It also has an inbuilt editor. Regards Brian
