Cannot re-install FS2004 on Windows 8

Hi All:

1. FS2004 worked fine on Windows 8 a few days ago and then just suddenly quit. I could get the opening screen but it would just shut down. After many attempts I uninstalled it and tried a re-install using the original 4 discs onto Drive D where I had it installed before. I cannot get a re-install after numerous tries. Not even a opening screen.

I get a message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item" with any of the four discs.

2.When setup.exe clicked on Disc 1 same message and there is also a line at the bottom of the files for the Disc, (all Discs) Files Ready to be written to the disc (1) and the file desktop.ini. When I click this file I get a box in notepad "[shellClass Info]Localized Resource Name=@%System Rest%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815"

I did a system restore but nothing changes. This is on Windows 8 using the original 4 discs for FS2004.

HELP please as I am not a computer whiz. LOL.
