Formation Driving at Nürburgring & Nordschleife 4 FSX

In this video you will be driving the Version 1.3 Le Mans 4 FSX Audi R10. This will be at very high speeds, in what can be called Formation Driving at Nurburgring / Nordschleife 4 FSX.

If you have already cut your teeth on the freeware Lime Rock 4 FSX in learning about what FSX can really deliver for hands on when on the track with just a minimum of 2.5 GigHz Machine with 4Gig of Ram, you also might have an earlier version of the ASS Audi R10 that you downloaded from FlightSim.com for it.

And, if you have also been practicing at Le Mans 4 FSX since, most likely you would not have passed up the Version 1.2 for your garage and studied Draft 1 of the Le Mans 4 FSX Drivers Manual.

Although Version 1.2 is more than acceptable for the Circuit del La Sarthe in Le Mans 4 FSX, as Nurburgring is considered the most challenging racing circuit in the world which includes its 16 Mile mountainous circuit in the Eifel Forest called the Nordschleife, its rendering for FSX has had its challenges too. That is, in both in terrain sculpting to achieve track accuracy and smoothness, and the necessary suspension improvements for V1.3 cars for racing there.

Actually ASS Cars have a latitude in their performance profile in having higher top speeds of about 10-15% over their actual counterparts. The AutoSportsSimulations.com's circuits 4 FSX consequently have to support this to some degree.

The video focuses on Formation Driving as opposed to competition. In most PC racing games trading paint like at NASCAR is acceptable since most of the time you end up playing bumper cars with drones anyway.

- But even at the actual NASCAR, Indy, or otherwise, Formation Driving must proceed any competitive move -

The challenge offered in this video is in driving high performance vehicles in formation like the Le Mans 4 FSX Audi R10, where driving the track as it should be, and while not running into the other cars on what is considered the most challenging racing circuits in the world. And in this case, racing circuits which are still in development and test for FSX.

Different from PC Games, ASS Cars like the Audi R10 are somewhat faster, and the circuits, like Nurburgring / Nordschleife 4 FSX being manually engineered, are not as perfect, but are quite challenging like the real deal.

Before any competition driving can be effective, just like in Formation Flying, formation driving should be mastered for the class of car used. With formation driving practice, competitive moves can then be determined with respect to relative timing with another drivers inefficiency.

You might know of, and have used FS Recorder in FSX. This video was made using FS Recorder and took basically 4 laps in four separate Audi R10's. So give or take, it took perhaps about a half hour to make. And thanks, but no drones are needed here!.

FS Recorder tracks of course you can use in a variety of scenarios. As FS Recorder tracks, hands on learning of the challenges of formation driving can be easily realized.

In Formation Driving, you will learn how to manage road conditions at high speeds, while not being distracted by everything going by, or even the cars in front of you. In formation driving you are not chasing other cars, but instead maintaining a relationship with them at relative speeds while your first focus has to be the road -

In racing high performance cars like the Le Mans 4 FSX Audi R10, eventually you could run into other cars, leave the road, and even take an actual test flight if over-speeding a bump. But, the more you practice the less this will happen.

That's why its nice that FS Recorder tracks can be reused and then again reused even with different camera views for your forensic study of your mishaps, and of course, your best laps -

Still under construction, Nurburgring / Nordschelife 4 FSX should be available for the Winter Holidays. The Audi R10 V1.3 will be available for it too !

Version 1.3 enhancements for the ASS Audi R10 primarily focused on a-suspension tuning; and thanks to aircraft aerodynamics latent in FSX, also b- Speed Braking; c- Increased toe and differential braking, and c- for what spoilers on race cars should do, progressive downdraft dynamics during high speeds. One of the minor, but very important enhancements included, are Brake Lights !

The Le Mans 4 FSX Ford GT40's , aka, ASS GT40's have had their V1.3 upgrade.

Version 1.2 of the GT40's do fine at Le Mans 4 FSX. Actually they handle really great at 240+ mph down its Circuit de La Sarthe.

But with Nurburgring / Nordschleife 4 FSX almost complete, its time to road test the V1.3 GT40's on this far more challenging circuit which Jackie Stewart named the Green Hell.

The V 1.3 enhancements include progressive downdraft. With a lot of track smoothing, both V1.3 vehicles and the circuits in this video are tested almost to their extreme in tolerances - So you might observe the GT 40's on some of the challenging areas at high speeds lifting off the track momentarily, but of course this is also nothing new for the history of the actual Nordschleife even at slower speeds -
