ERROR MSG WHEN LOADING fsx

Can anyone advise how to get rid of this:

""Cannot initialize simconnect Error HRESULTE_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.""

This is where to start in order to debug your issue -

Setup a simconnect.ini file in the C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files folder -

This can spawn and/or log the simconnect dialogue where you can get more details to start working with -

The Simconnect.ini should look something like this

[simConnect]

level=Verbose

console=Yes

file=C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\SimConnect%01u.Log

file_max_index=9

It could be any number of things - If Gold or Steam, do you have the SDK patches and the correct run time lib's installed yet ?

I came across the cause of the Error msg. when I tried to use the file "Auto Thumbnail"

when I tried to use Auto Thumbnail the Error Msg appeared - I deleted all files pertaining

to Auto thumbnail and - no more Error messages.

Now I would like to re-download Auto Thumbnail but cannot find it for download.

To get a thumbnail you pause the sim, position the view with hat switch, wheter in the air or on the ground. You then do 'Print Scrn', minimize (paused) FSX (I assume), open graphic editor (IrFanview is very good), then 'Paste'. You then crop and resize to around 345 x xxx, nd go File>Save As and browse to texture folder where it belongs, make sure name is 'thumbnail.jpg' and hit Save. Done. Takes a minute. IrFanview is free and small size program that can sit on taskbar all the time as it does not use any cpu bandwidth or ram.

It is one word "AutoThumbnail V2" up in the AVSIM Lib search under "AutoThumbnail".
