Johnny Boy the Pilot
As the title says, I'm looking at buying Active Sky Next for my FSX:SE. Looks very stunning, but I'm concerned my framerates may drop with ASN. After a recent FSX:SE settings retweek, I now average 10-20 FPS while flying around my local area (north of seattle, lots of autogen and traffic so I wont get best FPS). I read some other form before posting this that one guy has ASN kill his framerates pretty badly. Does ASN hit your FPS hard? FYI I'm actually pretty fine with the default FSX weather engine, but having ASN would be a nice addition. If I don't buy ASN I'll probably buy an airplane like JF's Beech 76 or Carenado's Seneca II. Also I get good frame rates when it's clear or fair weather, but if it's overcast, I'll average 8-12 FPS.
Johnny Boy the Pilot
And one more thing, is Active Sky Next a new weather engine that changes the default cloud textures, or is it just a weather engine only? If it's the latter I probably wont buy it.
JSkorna
Active Sky Next just a weather engine only. HiFi has other programs available if you want both. If overcast hits your FPS hard then don't use ANY weather engine because around KSEA you are going to have a lot of days of overcast. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
