Hello everyone's I have been lurking for a while.

I have finally got the parts to build my gaming pc primarily for use with flight simming.

I'm getting baffled and confused as to what to buy. I've never flown flight sims before but have been watching various YouTube videos as been very inspiring.

I think FSX SE is the best option but what else to I need to get a good immersion level.

I know some the add ins are very expensive so don't want to waste money if it doesn't bring a lot to the party.

Apologies if this a regular question that gets asked a lot it's just that I'm getting tom a point where 8 months of planning are coming to fruition.

Buy fsx. Install it. Play it. Find out what planes you like to fly.

Only then will you know what extras you might like.

Maybe even install it on your current pc first, so you know how much extra you want to spend on a better pc for games.

Don't have a pc at the moment. Currently have an i7 4.2 processor waiting to go in the case. An overclocked GTA 1070 8gb graphics card. 32gb of ram. A 275gb SSD. A 2tb drive.

Hi Ian,

There is so much to explore in the world of flight simulation, and much of it provided freely by generous developers.

Here are a few links which might help you:

This is only a small sample of the interviews FlightSim.com has given over the years. The full list can be found here:

One thing I would like to mention though Ian, is that, if you do enjoy the files found at FlightSim.com, perhaps consider purchasing a Supporting Membership, or even a First Class Membership.

This valuable contribution goes a long way in helping to maintain FlightSim.com and would be very much appreciated.

Good luck and let us know how you get on:)

Hi Ian

Welcome to our Flight sim community .

I agree with earlier posts , get FSX and start your flying .

It is important to get a joystick , even a cheap one that has several buttons on it , under no circumstances attempt to fly using just the keyboard .

Start your flying initially with the slower GA (General Aviation) aircraft , and be patient with yourself as you progress through the learning phase , you will be surprised that with time the flying stuff will grow on you .

Even though you should start with simpler GA aircraft , you will find that a particular passion develops for a specific category such as , military jets , airliners , aerobatic , or helicopters , the only advice that I can give is follow your heart .

Also remember to always ask questions and get help when you need it , the only dumb question is the one that was never asked .

Cheers

Karol

Another good suggestion is to start with the Tutorial Missions. This is a great starting point to learn about flying. Another area to explore is the "Learning Center". These are flying lessons, both written info and actual flying with a qualified instructor..I use that term loosely. They can be annoying at times especially when trying for the PPL.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Hi Ian,

Welcome to our community.

Everyone wants different things from their simulator and

as the others here suggest it's best to use it for a while to be sure what YOU want from it.

The joystick suggestion is a good one as it will definitely increase the immersion factor.

Most of all, have fun, learn and enjoy. You'll find plenty of help here if you need it.

All the best

Stinger
