New panel BMP doesn't show...

Been many years since I worked on panels, so I've forgotten a bunch. Didn't know a bunch, either, but that's another matter :)

I'm trying to improve a panel of one of my airplanes in 2004. I created a new .bmp for it, swapped it for the bmp file in the original panel folder. Started 2004, selected the airplane, and no panel...just the gauges. Black background and gauges only.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks!

ETA: Problem solved!

I tried opening the panel in FS Panel Studio and it said it couldn't open it because it wasn't a Windows BMP. I didn't know there was such a thing! A BMP is a BMP...right?

Nope.

I had created the panel BMP using GIMP. Apparently it is saved as a GIMP BMP.

So my solution was to save the file in GIMP as a JPG, open it in Paint, then save it as a BMP.

Works fine now!

Does the new .bmp have the exact same name as the old one? Is the name called in the panel.cfg file match the name of the .bmp exactly? Not certain this IS your trouble but it may be.

Just a thought. I get so few now a days...

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!
