First Payware plane for beginners?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I am new to flightsimming and personally have 0 experience with flying. So the idea of buying an Airbus or whatnot kinda scares me.

I would like to ask you to recommend any payware GA or small jet planes that you have used and that are easy to use or contain good tutorials. I really have no idea where to start looking.

Thanks!!!

The best recommendation is to start inside of your Sim and practice with the default or freeware 3rd party aircraft before spending money. You may be sorely disappointed if you buy an aircraft and you have to read through the manuals before getting any flights started or completed. Use the Sim's flying lessons and tutorials to familiarize yourself with the basics of flying.

P.S. Welcome aboard:D

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Totally agree. You'll know when it's time to buy payware and by that stage also understand the specific requirements you will want from your payware purchase.

(1). We all learned to fly in the C-182S in FS9 and the C-172 in FSX. Then we moved to other types, etc.

(2). What version of Flt Sim do you have AND what are your specs?

(3). Did you install to 'C:\Program Files\....' ? If so that is not a good thing (more later).

Don't buy anything just yet. Learn to fly using the many built in planes in fsx (or whatever simulator you use). There is also many freeware planes available.

That will keep you busy for at least a year. (kept me busy for several more years actually.).

Enjoy!

Hi Vern,

Try this link - its the Just Flight homepage -

https://www.justflight.com/

In the search box located at the middle-top of the page enter the phrase F-Lite and run a search. It will display all of the JF products that are F-Lite capable - around a dozen or so main models at the last count but the list will also display add on repaint packs.

I have several of their products and can recommend them. However, prior to purchasing any of the payware stuff look at their 757 Jetliner 'freemium' item - its a freeware model that will allow you to see if the F-Lite range suits your needs.

Regards

Brian

I'm currently getting my first payware plane soon (Carenado 172N) but ever since I learned to install addon planes around 2014-ish (My first addon was the 2004 Cessna 182S converted to FSX), I've found many freeware gems to satisfy my flying. Here's a list of some basic and easy to fly addon airplanes, with some being payware quality:

Just Flight Cessna 152 - https://www.justflight.com/microsoft-c152 (Payware Quality)

FrenchVFR Cessna 150L - http://frenchvfr.free.fr/download.php?lng=en&dirdnl=no&tconfig=0&id=1 (Spot-on Payware Quality)

Tim Conrad's Grumman American AA-5B Tiger - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/4675/fsx-sp2-grumman-american-aa1-5b-tiger/

ICP Savannah (Zentih CH-701) - http://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/51/402

Rara-Avis Simulations Erco 415C Ercoupe - https://www.classicwings.net/aircraft--e-

Aeroworks ARX-6 Roadrunner - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/13656/fsx-aeroworks-arx-6-roadrunner/ (almost payware quality)

PAD Flight Design CTSW - http://www.premaircraft.com/ctsw_FSX/index.html

Fly Synthesis Taxan Club 550 LSA - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15765/fsx-fly-synthesis-texan-club-550-lsa/

Rien Cornelissen's Piper PA-28-161 Warrior II - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/4665/fsx-piper-warrior-ii-pa28-161/

Rien Cornelissen' Piper PA-28-181 Archer III - https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/4656/fsx-sp2-piper-archer-iii-pa28-181/

NOTE: The ARX-6 is a fictional formula 1 air racer that races in the Formula 1 Class at the Reno Air Races. Very fast plane, and mostly easy to fly, but NOT a cross country machine as it only has max 30 minutes of fuel since it's only meant for air racing. Great little plane to get you into Reno-style air racing.

EmeraldEagle442, I agree with the guys (Hi, there, mrzippy!) that are saying that it's better to fly the default airplanes in FSX before moving onto a payware airplane. Since you're just starting out, flying the Cessna 172 is definitely a great way to familiarize yourself with the basics of aircraft handling. Read a lot and practice a lot.

However, if you're dead-set on having a *good* payware starter airplane I heartily recommend the A2A Cessna 172. I've got a few hundred real hours in the 172 and the A2A model nails it authenticity-wise, especially with the accu-feel enhancement.

But (again) as the guys stated earlier, get familiar with the default airplanes, so that your transition to a more detailed payware airplane will be smoother. :)

Happy flying,
