Thread: Lancduyn's Spring Fling 2017

  1. Default Lancduyn's Spring Fling 2017

I'm a bit late to the start, hope it is okay to party crash.
Since all the good Tigercats seem to have been taken, I've had to get creative and will be attempting to aviate in the Rob Richardson de Havilland Sea Hornet NF.21 with SOH FDE applied. Weather program will be Active Sky 2016. FSX-A with FSX-SE as backup.

Initial Flight MMAA to MM81, Isle Socorro. Going to do some whale watching and avoid cumulo granite while making sure I have all systems trued up on what is pretty much a test flight for me.

Flight completed. I noticed I forgot to set Duenna to the Event name and that was when I got the message that "The selected event is no longer valid". So guess I'll trade the plane for a sailboat and start floating instead

    Welcome indeed!
I don't recall any sailboats in the Race's Whitelist, but hey, it's a rally! I'm just wondering how you'll get her into Fairbanks AL

Looks great so far! Keep it up

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

So looks like this event is still happening, so I'm departing from MM81 enroute La Paz.

Down in La Paz. CAVU all the way.

One of the few times I've actually been reasonably well positioned for landing.

Departing La Paz enroute to Brown Field Municipal in Chula Vista.

    Down in Chula Vista.

Tower took a pic apparently trying to figure out what flavor of F-18 a Sea Hornet was.

Back in the US after an extended absence. I was sort of worried about the N numbers on the Hornet (what with being fake and all) but I see all my ramp mates have none so perhaps security has loosened up. Maybe my biggest problem will be to explain the aircraft itself seeing as no complete Sea Hornets exist anywhere today.

I wouldn't worry about security. They're probably in awe of the Sea Hornet. Too busy checking it out to bother with all the silly details

    Keep 'em comin'!

Out of Chula Vista, bound for O46 (Weed). Leaving under the cover of bright sunshine before the gubmint gets too interested. This flight should be an interesting study in fuel management. I was torn between loading drop tanks or rockets (long story, bad business deal in Chula from long ago and revenge is sweet, etc) and in the end took neither.

Landed at Weed. Heck of a crosswind at altitude that was encouraging a close encounter with Mt. Shasta.
