I remember this being a problem here too, back in the days. I remember it was something to do with driverd and that it couldn't be fixed.

 

A workaround was to enable pointer trails in the mouse settings.

Keep in mind that FS9 hiding the cursor after 5 seconds of inactivity is normal and specifically coded that way since it will give you an increase of gaming performance.
