OK! Finally, the next leg. Were putting up the gorgeous California Cost, from North Island KNZY up to Halfmoon Bay KHAF, in the San Francisco Bay Area. I grew up very near Halfmoon Bay, so it's a trip down Memory Lane for me

    See y'all at the Bay!

On the runway at NI. Beautiful California day

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Made it. A nice flight, although some heft headwinds the whole way, even at 13,000'. Made for a fairly easy landing, though, since the wind was almost straight down the runway

    Duenna and pictures to follow.

Well, we say farewell to North Island, with a wing-wag to the gals on the beach.

Following I-5 up from the LA area to the Bay Area. It can be seen off the port wingtip.
If you look behind and to the left of the tail, you can see Harris Ranch, home of some really spectacular Angus beef. They have a small, read J3 Cub type of small, Airstrip they put in just for the CHP planes to stop in and get lunch at their world famous restaurant. I used to stop in for a great meal when I would drive from Yuma home to visit the folks, and the old haunts.
Best beef I've ever tasted. They had to roll me out the door, I ate so much!

On short final to KHAF. Nice to have an almost dead on headwind!

Stopped with plenty of room. Popped the canopy on final to get that fresh sea air I remember so well.
I know I am home again! I may take a short flight around the area, just for old-time's sake.
I'll post some pics if I do

Little short hop today, KHAF -> KACV, Halfmoon bay to Arcata California, deep in Redwood country. Tall trees, huge, beautiful. Peaceful.

    Made another leg
Landed safe at KACV. Lousy weather today, low clouds, many, many clouds. Bumpy too.
I tried something different today. I took it low the whole way. Never went over 5000' MSL. Great view of the beautiful California coastline as I went, when I wasn't IN a cloud, which I was. A lot. Plenty of IFR practice today!
Thankfully, the destination was fairly clear. Enough to make a decent landing, anyway
I got a few picture of leaving the Bay Area, but after that it was so cloudy, I couldn't get many. I'll see if the few I got are worth posting later on.
But for now, here's the Duenna, at least

    OK!
The weather has finally cleared out enough that I can give this leg a shot.

SO, here we go! KACV -> O46, or, Arcata to Weed. Since I live just up the road from Weed (I love that name!), this should be fun!

Just so you know, weed (the herbal medicine, not the airport ) is now legal in Oregon.

    Off we go!

I remember the sign coming into town. It said - and this is true- "Discover all that Weed has to offer!"

Well, that was a great flight. Hi CU, some bumpies (Turbulence ) .
Stayed on MissGhost's wing (well close, anyway) the entire flight.
Her crew was on the ball, and got her jacked up fast. Checking the gear for damage. She tends to LAND when she lands

Hey, that's why I pay my crew the big bucks. Their only purpose is to beat me to the airport and prepare for my arrival, and then take care of everything so I can go eat and sleep.
