How to have smooth movement in the cockpit?

When I record a flight, I want to look around the cockpit in a smooth way. I tried to move with the mouse instead of the number pad, but occasionally when I use the mouse to look around once I press the space bar, the view takes a sharp jump, and that really ruins the realistic experience

Welcome aboard! Had a real good joke that went well with your post title, but I think I'll skip it! If you don't already have a joystick with a hat switch, then that may be your best choice. The hat switch can be set up for the cockpit look mode.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

That jump happens because you have changed your mouse's position. If the mouse's position remains same and you press space bar, there won't be any sudden movement in the camera.

Simply, YES. in the Cameras.cfg (the copy in the folder with FSX.cfg)

make the 2D camera definition switch from Ordinal to Swivel

This will also allow you to simply pivot the horizon (2D 'raise seat') instead of

having to use that ridiculous CTRL+Q insanity.

[CameraDefinition.001]

Title = Cockpit 2D

Guid = {B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB5}

Description = 2D cockpit view

Origin = Cockpit

Track = None

Category = Cockpit

PanPbhAdjust = Swivel // ordinal

PanPbhReturn = False // True

SnapPbhAdjust = Ordinal

SnapPbhReturn = False

PitchPanRate=5

HeadingPanRate=15

PanAcceleratorTime=0 // instantaneous pan speed

AllowZoom = TRUE

InitialZoom = 1.0 // "reset level"

SmoothZoomTime = 0 // instantaneous transition

ZoomPanScalar = 0 // zps/zoom

XyzAdjust = TRUE // I can move the camera ref point

XyzRate = 0.25 // m/sec default rate

ShowAxis = FrontOnly

ShowLensFlare=FALSE

ShowPanel = Yes

ShowWeather = Yes

MomentumEffect = FALSE

Transition = No // between views

HotKeySelect=1 // my choice to make it F9 instead of F10

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of an addon that would solve the issue?

TrackIR is an excellent way to do that, both in the video and for just flying the sim.

- EZDOK camera

- ChasePlane

- to a lesser extent: CameraPosition X (probably not smooth enough for your purposes)

Or plug in an additional Xbox Controller and use it to control the views (like you would with the hat switch on a joystick).

Well, I only re-posted what Loyd posted in 2014. I did not try it (no need). I use the numpad keys (Shift ON) to snap to different view when in 2D panel (which is rare). In VC I use the joy hat switch to pan around. If I am close and I want to locate a tiny grass strip I use 'Top Down View' in a window (press '[' key) and zoom out/in. With that I can line up without changing anything. KISS.
