Editing BMP textures

Hello all,

 

I am trying to edit my US Airways A320 that I downloaded to resemble N106US (the Hudson aircraft)

The textures are in BMP, not DDS and as I tried to edit the last third of the plane, and saved it, so that should display my edits, right?

How did you do the edit/save?

 

The BMP's for aircraft textures are extended bitmap files which can support DXT compression, alpha channel and mipmaps. To work with them properly you can use DXTBmp from here: http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/

Update: Followed the directions, this is the result, so at least its showing SOMETHING now, instead of a shiny metal fuselage.

 

I think you've missed to flip the textures.

Textures have been flipped, a little closer but still of by a bit.

 

Have a look at the original texture to check that your edited texture has the same projected view, also you can open both the original texture & the edited texture as layers to check that they align, you may have moved the texture during editing without realising.

I am really at a loss. I opened them both up and they align perfectly.

The textures definitely look like they should be flipped horizontally, the APU jetpipe detail is positioned in the top right corner of the texture sheet & is shown on the left side of the aircraft where the door & windows should be.

All is good now! Forget about this thread. Sorry for the trouble. It was my first time actually editing a texture.
