Horacios
Hi there, My question today is, when I go for a fly with mostly big iron, C17, 747 (this problem never hapend with a small plane, its always a big one)etc. when I get from inside the cockpit to the spot view, my plane jump! one or two times in the air, and I find this not a nice view! I wonder what could it be the reason, does someone knows why this happens? if you do, please, let me know!, maybe is something easy to fix, Hope so! best regards Cub51
mrzippy
Does it do it every time you go from cockpit view to spot view? Try using "Locked Spot" view. Does the plane jump if you are not taxiing, but standing still and moving your view? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
Horacios
Hello Mr. Zippy, Nice to hear from you again, always ready to help the people in need!, the problen is also in the "Locked Spot", also if the plane doesen't ride, so I don't know wat can I do! Cub51 Interesting! So the cause is changing the view, not really the aircraft's fault. Are the big jets like the 747 default or are they addons like the C-17? dspaulding
I've seen this phenomenon before in the VRS Sue-pa bug as well. I just ignore it but I'm all ears as to how to fix. Only happens during exterior views taxiing and sometimes does it when strapped in the cat in exterior view.
mrzippy
Just been doing some research and most fixes had to do with adjusting the mesh slider down a tad bit. It was thought that when changing the view(s) the computer has a slight problem if the mesh slider is set too high. Probably also using a higher quality payware aircraft and/or scenery will add to this problem. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Horacios
Dear MrZippy, I'been trying with diferent configurations , the jump doesen't happen with the B747 default, it does happend with some payware planes, like the Area51 C17 and the A400 From Wilco, but with Level-D 767 , the QW B757 and BAe 146, the Douglas DC8 from JustFlight, enz. don't happend, so I guess I have to learn to live with it! what do you think? Greetings Cub51:)
napamule2
Like Zip says: 'Probably also using a higher quality payware aircraft and/or scenery will add to this problem.' The scenery and textures are both being loaded and the contact points react to the changes. Like a carpet being laid under you - the sim has to 'lift' you up in order to accomplish that. And try pressing the 'B' key (sets barometer) which sometimes helps. I am curious what airplane you use for 'Default' - the one that loads when you first open FSX. If you use the C-172, saved when in locked spot, this 'jumping' is less likely to happen, especially if your default flight starts at same runway at same airport. After the C-172 loads, give it a minute before you load your payware monster texture airplane. First go to 2D then VC panel to 'load' those (ie: gauges, etc). Then switch back to locked spot and see if it still jumps (I doubt it will). Horacios
Hi Napamule2, Thanks for your message, I don't fly with the airplanes of Microsoft, they are not very good, thats why I buy planes from good planes makers(In my opinion!), such as Level-D, QW,Area51, Wilco, CLS(The B747 and the DC-10 line) I did try the B767, big mistake!enz. In short, the only 2 airplanes that givme problems(jumping) are Area51 C-17 and Wilco A400M. The others,(all the airplanes from Microsoft) never jump!I got also CS L-1011, no jump!, iFly B737, same,A2A J3, no problem, enz. I did try to do what you told me, but to no avail, probably I did something wrong, but I don't know what! rhey still jumping Thanks again! ScatterbrainKid
I had a freeware Ryan ST that used to hop around like a tap dancer but was able to fix it thanks to the following advice in a post by a guy (sorry don't remember his name) so I might as well throw it into the playpen for good measure in case it might help- Kid, Went and got the cnt pts I used in both FS9 and FSX for you. Try them out. Hope this helps you solve the shaking. keefpee
Some times some of my models jump when downloaded by others. I have found that the frame rate setting can affect some more elaborate models especially if your frame rate is set to 20 fps as used by a lot of internet flyers. Then there can be MoI problems too! napamule2
Kid, the 'cb' ('//cb cnt pts as in FS9 AND FSX..') indicates it's ME (cb or Chuck B) that posted those cnt pts. Thank you very much (hehe). It's the compression values that make a plane 'jerk' or 'jump'. Especially if they are too critically damped. No 2 models, made by different authors, are made with the same parameters for wheel compression, even if it's the same model. Trial & Error is needed - IF you know what you are doing. I don't 'fix' payware airplanes 'High Quality' or otherwise (sorry). Chuck B Napamule aka: 'cb' ('hidden watermark'?)=(this is how I can tell if they are my FDE's, too). i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. dorianr
I don't know if this help but, one time I have all plane jumping including the trucks, it was funny but it make me mad until someone on this forum suggest me to change priority on the scenery will this help maybe ? napamule2
Keith, You are absolutely right ('Then there can be MoI problems..'). I can make ANY airplane shake by reducing the MOI values. That simple. Fixing the problem requires a little trial and error. But there are limits due to what it will do to the handling when in the air. So this alone is not a definitive 'fix', per se. Might have to tweak the air file values too (in 'flight dynamics' section). When you get it ALL correct then you can lay claim to making a 'New & Improved' FDE (and consider it your 'Intellectual Property'). Respect? There is no respect - payware guys will use it and not give you any credit (they 'get off' by claiming they got the FDE from the original modeler - nice, eh?). Scenery 'priority'? Where? Scenery library, or Process Manager? Curious. But I don't see that being the ultimate tweak. But I could be wrong, as it IS the scenery being 'laid down' that can cause the AC to jump. Standing by. Chuck B Napamule Edit: Oh, and there is the 'Vertex' level value (in FSX cfg) that might play a role. i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. Trancer365
I think I have a similar problem but the plane doesn't jump up and down but more like it drops a couple of feet and then bounces a bit as if it's hit a bump and then I hear passengers screaming and what sounds like a plane when it touches down on the runway. It only happens with some of my free add-on planes. It doesn't really bother me as it only happens when I switch planes.
