Are you ready for Santos Dumont Airport?

Together, I Marcelo Nielsen and Richard Nunes, decided to join our knowledge to create for the X-Plane community a Santos Dumont Airport 3d scenery, located in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. The scenery is fully updated to 2016 and 100% compatible with Richard Nunes SBGL-Galeão airport scenery.

 

The project is still in progress but in a very advanced stage. Later this month of February we will be starting the preparations for the official launch at "X-Plane.ORG" store.

 

This will be a "Payware" project and highly detailed with animated jetways, photorealistic textures, very precise HDR lighting, objects created with extreme detail and accuracy, identical to the actual airport, as well as animations and more.

Some information About Santos Dumont Airport, Rio de Janeiro / Brazil

 

Santos Dumont Airport (IATA: SDU - ICAO: SBRJ) is a central airport located close the financial center of Rio de Janeiro for domestic flights. Built in the 30s on top of a embankment edge of Guanabara Bay, Santos Dumont was the first civilian airport in Brazil. It is currently the second busiest airport in the state of Rio de Janeiro after the Galeao International Airport and is also one of the busiest in Brazil, occupying the seventh place.

 

A highlight from Santos Dumont Airport is the modern departure lounge, the first in Brazil fully coated with transparent material, which gives a broad view of the Bay of Guanabara, where you can see sights like the Rio-Niterói Bridge, the Fiscal Island, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the city of Niteroi, the Naval school and the famous Sugar Loaf.

 

The main activity of the airport is is the Rio-São Paulo air shuttle, which carries passengers between Santos Dumont and Congonhas Airport in Sao Paulo, moving about 4 million passengers per year, representing nearly half of the entire airport movement.

 

The airport complex is set in an area of ​​833,000 square meters, with two runways for takeoffs and landings with a capacity of 29 operations per hour, and two passenger terminals, a terminal boarding and another for departing. This structure provides the capacity to attend 9.9 million passengers a year, according to Infraero.

Rio Niteroi Bridge was delivered on March 4, 1974, with a total length of 13.29 km, of which 8.83 km are on the water, and 72 m high at its highest point, and estimated a daily volume 4,868 trucks, 1,795 buses and 9,202 cars, totaling 15,865 vehicles. It is currently considered the largest bridge in prestressed concrete, the southern hemisphere and is currently the 11th largest bridge in the world.
