Hi Guys,

i have a texture problem here.

my texture is from fspainter a350. i try to convert from fsx to fs bu using DXTBMP

however i load the dds texture file in the software and push under image the flip image and alpha button.

then save as a result as DXT3.BMP

but u can see the words is not clear, the color is a bit low quality

how would i do to make it as best as good from TFS quality?

thanks a lot,

Jack

DXT/DDS is a compressed format, when you extract and convert you are essentially "recompressing"; it's just like editing and saving a jpg image. Convert your file to standard bmp and clean up that image as much as possible (possibly importing new graphics for logos and such), then convert that back to DXT.

I also found "blurred" textures from DTXBmp if the (X * Y pixel) sizes were not binary numbers: eg, 513 X 513 and 511 X 511 would be blurred, but the binary number in between (512 X 512) would be sharp.

The only "binary numbers" are zero and one.

Also, the other sizes you noted are not valid FS texture sizes.

As the OP began with FS textures it is probably safe to assume they were properly sized to begin with.

You are welcome, always happy to point out other people's errors,...as are you.

I think you meant the image size must be a multiple of two. Many games are quite picky about this; I had a racing sim that would unceremoniously CTD if any image wasn't properly sized. Other games are more tolerant, merely stretching or compressing the image to fit the mapping, which usually creates a blurred result.
