GBJim
I downloaded the Fly Away Supermarine Seafire MK 47, from Vintage page 4, and I am having difficulty keeping the engine running below a 1/4 throttle setting. Is there an idle adjustment that I can tweak some where ? Thank you kindly. Jim Happiness is FSX Steam and Windows 7 . :)
mrzippy
I made a change to the aircraft.cfg. It is shown in RED. [piston_engine] cylinder_displacement=186.000000 compression_ratio=7.000000 number_of_cylinders=12 max_rated_rpm=3000.000000 max_rated_hp=2375.000000 fuel_metering_type=2 cooling_type=1 normalized_starter_torque=0.055000 turbocharged=1 max_design_mp=56.999999 min_design_mp=1.000000 critical_altitude=25400.000000 emergency_boost_type=3 emergency_boost_mp_offset=4.100000 emergency_boost_gain_offset=0.740000 fuel_air_auto_mixture=1 auto_ignition=0 max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000000 idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=2.000 max_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000000 idle_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000000 This worked great for a smooth idle. This number may not need to be this high, so experiment with 1.2500 or 1.500. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
ScatterbrainKid
Simply ticking the 'Enable Automixture' button (below) does away with all that mixture fiddling business, you simply climb in, slam open the throttle and you're away. Remember, my poor huddled masses of FSX newcomers, FSX can be as easy or as hard as you want to make it..:) http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/sub2/FSX-Airc-Realism_zpsbdxr8kic.jpg~original
mrzippy
In this case "Auto Mixture" will not solve the idle problem. The aircraft.cfg has fuel_air_auto_mixture=1 This allows for auto mixture control for this aircraft whether it's checked in the settings or not. fuel_air_auto_mixture=0 is the default and I changed it to 1 for testing. Believe it or not, there are a lot of folks that don't want to slam open the throttle and go! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! You guys are the greatest. Thanks again for providing this great forum. Jim Happiness is FSX Steam and Windows 7 . :)
ScatterbrainKid
..Believe it or not, there are a lot of folks that don't want to slam open the throttle and go! I prefer simming the same way as I made love in my younger days, quickly, brutally, decisively..:)
Guest Robert455
But does the airplane enjoy it? ;-)

GBJim
How come you're not flying your AVATAR aircraft? LOL - I do have that one on file, but I believe that it is badly underpowed. At least when compared to my R/C models of the model Z. Don't know why ?
