The Product Announcement as Apposed to the "Release" Date.

Hi all -

I am wondering - how long do most companies wait before releasing the product from announcement?

I ask because if it isn't too soon, I'd rather wait then spend my money on Captain Sim's 737 and get Orbx Monument Valley when it comes out.

Just curious as to what the time frame is. Thanks....

Asking about what's the reality check between corporate marketing\hype and what the programmers can really get done is, indeed, like asking how high is up. Good luck with that. Combine it with the strange tendency for people who work at corporations seemingly being compelled to do very stupid things very often, well ... you may have a long wait.

Hope Orbx isn't so long with Monument Valley....

Don't get me wrong, though, because I enjoy lots of FSX payware and I'm grateful for the nice add-ons which makes the flight sim hobby so enjoyable. I can count the number of no-value payware items I've wasted money on with one hand.

But you have to wonder about things like the awful Windows 8 "Metro\Modern" user interface, Hulu showing Viagra and Cialis ads while you're watching a kid's movie with your family, Toyota and General Motors denying there are safety problems with their cars so they won't have to recall/fix them, the airlines making air travel worse than riding on a third-world bus, and then there's the cable companies, the scum of the tech world. Greed combined with the "Yes, boss, great idea boss, that's what we should do, boss" syndrome = people at corporations doing very, very stupid things.

And exactly why I learned not to talk about stuff I do anymore....

When you see previews of an Orbx product you can count on it to be released soon. It's their policy to announce new products only short before release.

Cheers, Bert
