    Default P-51 and Catalina

The P-51 is the A2A Civilian Version and the Catalina is Aerosofts.

Cat was over a river in Oregon using Orbx PNW scenery.

    P-51 was around LOWI (Innsbruck).

    Scenery is stock P3D

I continue to be amazed at how well done P3D is right out of the box.

    Hey Vic,

Could you post up here a really nice shot of that Catalina from the outside and a photo of the cockpit? I want to post the links as screen shots in the "List of software people are using with Prepar3D" in the other thread.

    Thanks
    Dan

Sure, Dan - won't be able to get to it until Thursday though but I'll post a few shots.

VG, Could I ask you if you had any trouble installing the Cat?

As I mentioned in another thread I too have the Aerosoft version but it caused a file error during the install process which ultimately stopped my file save and load options in P3D working, until I worked out away of reinstating the damaged file (without re-installing all of P3D!). It also caused an error in FSX, something about an adventure file not being installable, but obviously that is not an issue here though I think that same error is causing the problem in P3D.

I have checked and seem to have the latest version of the Aerosoft Catalina, but if you had no trouble with the install then perhaps your version is newer than mine and I will check again.

Thanks for your help.(I have tried it with and without the Estonia tool, so it is nothing to do with that)

I used the Estonia tool and all the Aerosoft planes that I own installed without a hitch. I did nothing special.

Thanks Vic, I will check the file again for newness and try again. Although I have it working OK I don't like mysteries like that!

    John

update: redownloaded the installer v 1.20 , made sure the Estonia tool was running, but still got the error message "error with FSCATEGORIES.xml, the mission is not available".

This causes a CTD if you try to open the "load/save a flight" menu as the P3D/categories folder is corrupted, in particular the file mentioned above. The aircraft itself works perfectly.

As it had happened before I had a "good" backup just in case, so all is well again, but it is strange or probably my usual bad luck that it happened to me and no-one else is having the same problem apparently! Ain't computers wonderful?!
