Yikes, hope all those layed off land well with new employment!
The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat.

Hmmmm indeed. If a large portion of the team was sacked what would be the point of keeping the rest?

Well, I can't say this is completely unexpected, but...

MS has axed the entire ACES studio!

This means, no TrainSim2, no FS11, and no ESP either...

The bean counters should have axed the ZUNES team and left our beloved ACES alone.

This totally stinks for our friends, getting layed off in the middle of winter in Seattle of all places.

My heart goes out to them and their families.

    From my post at Avsim

Sad to see Phil but not unexpected given the current economic conditions.
You, Hal, Z, Singer, and the rest of the guys at the Studio have done an outstanding job on your outreach to developers and the community.
Thanks for all of your efforts and let's hope there is a turnaround at some point in the future.

Meantime, Team Eaglesoft will continue to develop for both FS9 and FSX Platforms as they are the only game in town at this point
    Best, Regards,

Phil Taylor has a similar post over at AVSIM... Why panic? We have FS9, and FSX, developers will have the stability they've been craving, and we can fly until we drop. If there is a market void, it will be filled sooner or later.

    No mention of "cutting" ESP?

ACES may have been cut, but I would be willing to bet that Microsoft, having launched ESP to a government.commercial base, is continuing development on the core platform and ESP, with the "entertainment" releases (MSTS2 and FSx) to follow (delayed) when things pick up.

    I hope.
