    Default Bringing AI taxiways and parking to airports. Help!!

    I've brought AI traffic to 23 Australian airports which had parking but no ATC, which was easy when I was told how.

    But now I want to bring AI traffic to those airports which don't have taxiways and parking.

    Is there a simple way of doing it which doesn't involve a degree in computing science or the need to sacrifice your first born.

    All I want to do is lay some simple taxiways (to start with) and a few parking spots. I'd even forgo visual taxiways and parking just to get the planes to come and go.

    As far as I know, if the airport has no parking, AI cannot be made to use it, until someone devises a way of editing the airport gates. This is being looked into at the moment by someone far cleverer than me. If you're out there, how's it going?
    Until then, I don't think it can be done.

    The problem as I see it is gates and parking sports can be added, it's locating them in the right spot that is the issue.
    I'm sure the information could be simply tapped into a .sca file and recompiled as a .bgl - except there is no obvious relationship between the co-ordinates used to define taxiway and parking positions and conventional longitude and latitude. If only the taxiway and parking positions could be worked out using the overhead view and slew mode to determine longitude and latitude or slew mode could give us scenery co-ordinates.

    I'm sure one of the real experts out there can find a way of linking the two.

    David,

    From one of your tips in another forum question today:

    ------
    It took four days and lot of false starts but in the end this is how I got the Posky 767s to fly as AI.
    1. Replace the Posky .air and aircraft.cfg files with the default 777 .air and aircraft.cfg files. Make sure you rename the old ones just in case you need them again (which you will. Read on)
    2. Rename the default Boeing_777.air to the appropriate 767.air file, in other words, use the old .air file name (say 767300ER-GE.air etc)
    3. Copy the entry from the old 767.air file over the section of the 777 file.
    4. And finally, and this was critical, lower the contact points in the aircraft.cfg file. These are the ones I used. There are only four changes - Point.0, point.1, point.2 and static_cg_height. They are the figures -11.00,-11.50,-11.50 and 10.8 shown below.

    point.0=1, 87.42, 0.00, -11.00, 1181.1, 0, 4.521, 90.0, 1.63, 2.5, 0.7235, 4.0, 4.0, 0, 0.0, 0.0
    point.1=1, -19.50, -12.00, -11.50, 1574.8, 1, 4.521, 0.0, 1.91, 2.5, 0.7470, 6.9, 6.9, 2, 0.0, 0.0
    point.2=1, -19.50, 12.00, -11.50, 1574.8, 2, 4.521, 0.0, 1.91, 2.5, 0.7470, 7.1, 7.1, 3, 0.0, 0.0
    point.3=2, -14.17, -47.33, 0.00, 787.4, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.00, 0.0, 0.0000, 0.0, 0.0, 5, 0.0, 0.0
    point.4=2, -14.17, 47.33, 0.00, 787.4, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.00, 0.0, 0.0000, 0.0, 0.0, 6, 0.0, 0.0
    point.5=2, -83.33, 0.00, 2.50, 787.4, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.00, 0.0, 0.0000, 0.0, 0.0, 9, 0.0, 0.0
    point.6=2, 42.67, 0.00, -3.75, 787.4, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.00, 0.0, 0.0000, 0.0, 0.0, 4, 0.0, 0.0
    static_pitch=0.10
    static_cg_height=10.8
    ----------

    I can't seem to get this to work - probably doing something wrong no doubt.

    If possible could you send me a copy of your 767 AI Aircraft.cfg file that you have got working.

    Thanks very much

    Brian.

    David,

    "I've brought AI traffic to 23 Australian airports which had parking but no ATC, which was easy when I was told how."

    How did you do this? I've been trying to figure out how to populate my local GA airports.
    Thanks,
    Sean
