Thread: Manhattan buildings "floating" in the Hudson River

  1. Default Manhattan buildings "floating" in the Hudson River

LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-02 AT 03:14PM (EDT)[p]I recently upgraded to the Pro edition (whole other story there, entirely). I now have about 15-20 buildings "floating" on the Hudson on the JFK Airport side of mid-Manhattan. What the ...? Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions for rectifying this? Is a reinstall necessary?

Prior to uninstalling Standard and installing Pro, I copied the file of a bunch of aircraft and two or three scenery files I had downloaded - one being the World Trade Center - and put them in a renamed folder away from FS. How did these files also end up in the FS2k2 Pro directory when I installed Pro. Could the WTC file somehow be related even though it was fine in my standard version?

If I were at home I'd try to post my first screenshot for you to seee this aberration.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-27-02 AT 05:01PM (EDT)[p]Anybody ever hear of such a thing? I know I've read about Prince Edwards Island floating above the surface of the ocean but apparently that is how FS2k2 has it set. Is this something unique to my setup?

If you're talking about the East River at about mid-town, there should also be an island surrounding those houses. It is called Roosevelt Island. For some reason, I want to say there is a hospital, maybe a mental hospital there, but I'm not sure on that fact.

It might be the East River rather than the Hudson but I'm definitely not talking about "houses". I getting about two dozen office buildings "floating" on the river. I was thinking that maybe I can do a custom install and just install New York City scenery and texture files. I've read in some posts here recently that you can't just copy files directly from the cd's so this might not be quite as easy as that.

It sounds like a phenomenon I experienced with the Severn Bridge floating in UK - the solution is to increase your mesh in menu/display - make it at least 65% I'd say

Just to begin the process of elimination somewhere - at least with regards to the sliders - I presently have all sliders set to the far right. With any lick, as I start moving sliders to the left, maybe the problem will disappear. I'm not holding my breath on that outcome, though.
