Default Windows 95 and FS 2002

I got FS 2002 over a month ago, and I have not played it on my computer. When I went to install it, I discovered that it will not run on Windows 95. My questions are: Is there any reason this program absolutley needs windows 98; can I trick the program into thinking I have windows 98; and does it make that much of a difference in my computer, for the $150 to upgrade from Win 95 to Win 98? Also is there anybody else that has had this problem?.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-02 AT 10:44PM (EDT)[p]Yes I know windows 95 is old, but is paying $150 for windows 98 really worth it? Windows XP is about $300-350 to upgrade. Does anybody else have a solution?

I have instructions on the tips page for a Win 95 install. If you know what you're doing when it comes to computers, you can give it a try, but I'm not fielding support questions, so read the instructions WELL. Even I eventually caved in and went to 98SE. I didn't regret it....

Trust me. Its worth it. 95 sucks and you can buy the full version of XP home for $199. I would go for it.

Well I don't think I will bother paying the $350 (Canadian dollars) to upgrade to windows XP. I was planning, or hoping to get a new computer soon, so it wouldn't be worth it to get XP right now. I was looking for something temporary to allow me to play FS 2002 on windows 95. Thanks for yor help anyways.

As John (Cactus) said, there is a way to do it listed in the simulator section of the FS2002 Tips (banner link at the top of the page).

However, following the instructiones precisely is required to avoid an unholy mess. :)
