  1. Thanks Steve. I'm looking forward to multi-monitor support in MSFS for sure. Until then, I'll play around with your suggestions.
  2. Thank you all for you honest advice. I will be happy with what I have and with the rest of us, wait for prices to become more manageable.
  3. Yes. GPU. But what if I now wanted to upgrade my GPU, could I do it with a $400 budget? What specs would I look for that would provide the improvement over my RTX 2070? (eg Memory size, type, clock, stream processors). Is bigger always better? What affects the price of graphic cards from a $500 one to a $1000+ one?
  4. Here are the specs of my current computer: Intel Core i7 @ 4.00GHz, Coffee Lake 14nm Technology 32.0GB Dual-CHannel RAM @ 1499MHz (15-16-16-35) ASUSTek Prime 370-A (LGA1151) MB 4095MB NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 (EVGA) Graphics 1TB Samsung SSD 970- ZEVO Plus Samsung 32" 4K 60Hz 4ms GTG VA LED FreeSync Monitor Looking to see if there is any suggestions I can make to make some inexpensive improvements to the hardware to improve frame rates. My frame rates aren't terrible enough to be frustrated for the most part even on a general Ultra setting, but everyone likes to improve for optimum. I fell into some cash that I can put towards this. I have 3 additional HDMI monitors also setup to support my setup, with someday (when MSFS supports multi-monitor) changing those to 4k if practical. Would a setup in graphics card in the $300-$400 range improve anything? Increased RAM?
  5. Hi folks, this is a question based around curiosity. I have an Android tablet and a laptop on my home network wifi, and a second PC on my home network connected by ethernet. Can I use any of these to enhance my experience with MSFS? I have my primary PC with triple monitor (Nvidia Surround - hope multi-monitor support comes to MSFS to put different views on different monitors. I don't think we can do that yet.)? What are some things you have done with similar setups and how? (eg software requirements, tutorials etc)
  6. Tried another airport ... KBFM. ATC popup COM1 and MFD display 121.7 as active frequency. Tap to tune into Downtown ATIS on 135.575, displays briefly change, but return to 121.700. I do hear the ATIS though, but only once. It goes through the ATIS once (is it supposed to repeat?), and then is exhibts the same behaviour as in my original post. No more ATIS, just a brief flicker of the ATIS freq with a return to 121.7 with just static.
  7. I have removed myself from MSFS because I was getting frustrated with all the bugs that were manifesting with each update. Was getting lost in the temporary fixes and progress of officially repairing the so called bugs. I'm trying to use ATC at Lakefront Airport (KNEW). In the ATC popup, COM1 is 121.700, which coincides with whats on my MFD. It lists options to tune to ATIS and Clearance When I click on Tune Lakefront ATIS on 124.900, both the frequencies for COM1 in the ATC popup box, and on the MFD briefly change to 124.900, but snap back to the defualt frequency of 121.900. I get no ATIS message. Same deal when I select Clearance on 127.400. Is this expected behaviour? A bug - I think MSFS still has a few that I haven't discovered yet (and has led me to shelve my interest in it) A common bug or just a bug with my configuration?
  8. Thank you all. I have always enjoyed Little Nav Map and have added it back to my tools. I for some reason got hung up on figuring out how to get created plans into MSFS. All I could figure out was how to get MSFS to create them. All good now.
  9. I've Googled and none of the sources I seem to have found really answered by question that I pose here now. If I use Simbrief or other flightplan generator that creates a flightplans which may or may not include airway references, how can I bring that flightplan into MSFS, whether automatically or by manual entry? I seem to be only able to use the flightplans MSFS generates through it's interface.
  10. I have the Saitek Throttle Quad. I wish to assign button 14 to left fuel selector on, button 15 to left fuel selector off, and button 18 to right fuel selector on and button 19 to right fuel selector off. Using the beta limited time trial version of FSUIPC 7, I have succeeded in assigning button 14 to turning on the left fuel selector (control: Fuel Selector Left) and off (control: Fuel Selector off). Does anyone know what controls to use to do the same for the right fuel selector? If I assign control: fuel selector right to button 18 : when the left fuel selector (LFS) is on, and I press button 18, the right fuel selecor (RFS) is turned on, but the left turns off. From that state, if I turn LFS on (using button 14), the LFS turns on and the RFS turns off. I have lots of different fuel selecto related controls available through FSUIPC 7 Fuel Selector 2 - All, Centre, Left, Left Aux, Left Main, Off, Right, Right Aux, Right Main, Set Fuel Selector 3 - All, Centre, Left, Left Aux, Left Main, Off, Right, Right Aux, Right Main, Set Fuel Selector 4 - All, Centre, Left, Left Aux, Left Main, Off, Right, Right Aux, Right Main, Set Fuel Selector - All, Centre, Left, Left Aux, Left Main, Off, Right, Right Aux, Right Main, Set I can assign one button to turn both on simultaneously (Fuel Selector - ALL), and a second button off simultaneously (Fuel Selector - OFF). This is an option, but for full immersion (and future button box functionality), I'd like seperate switch functions if possible.
  11. Hi Stinger, thanks somuch for sharing your insight. It's been forever since I used FSUIPC and even Linda to identify and work with Lvars. Time to dust off the memory cells. I was hoping that the functions I needed, in whatever configuration of button use needed (ie toggle or other) were included in the list of default MSFS functions for "fuel selection".
  12. I have a Saitek ProFlight Throttle Quadrant. I'd like to assign one of the switches to toggle the fuel selector switches. For example - one physical switch = button 1 (upper), and button 2 (lower) Press Joystick button 1 turns Left fuel selector ON. Pressing it again, turns it off. Press Joystick button 2 turns right fuel selector ON, and a second press turns it off. I'm not sure what functions to assign to each button from the list of available fuel tasks. I don't see any toggle, so I'm not even sure if this is possible, or I am going to have to use two swiches for 4 buttons. Switch 1 button 1 is LEFT ON, 2 is LEFT OFF; switch two, button 3 is RIGHT ON, button 4 is RIGHT OFF.
  13. Hi Stinger. I figured that the approach you took would be the way I'd have to do it. I found some images of cockpits, main panels mostly, taken direct so assuming minimal distortion from perspective. But of course you need dimensions of a known component to be able to create that scale. I'm using this phot of a C208B cockpit (Jetphotos.com Frederico Cavalcante) for now for practice, and I believe it illustrates the G1000 as well. But, I haven't managed now to find any source of dimensions for the outside dimension of the G1000 (faceplate or bezel whatever its called) height width and depth (thickness). Would you be so kind as to share what outside dimensions you have for the G1000?
  14. Thanks Tim for your support. I did not realize that Nvidia CP replaced NVI. I was following the supporting independant document for DX10 by Adam Banks on how to "best" optimize settings for FSX using DX10Fixer. The question now, is graphics settings configured through NI automatically apply when FSX is launched (my understanding of how NI works). How can I prevent NI kicking in it's profile in favour to the changes I made from within Nvidia Control Panel? Jorgan, thank you also for your input. I was curious to the affinity mask calculator. My CPU has 3 cores, which doesn't appear as an option in the easy calculator, so not sure how effective it is in my case.
  15. A am very poor when it comes to understanding graphics performance, and I am hoping someone can poinbt out some areas of my configuration that will help me smooth out my lower level flying. Right now its so studdery that it is uncomfortable playing. My system: Windows 10 64 Bit Intel Core i7 @4.00 Ghz (30C idle) 3 Cores, 6 Threads HT on 16.0 GB Dual-Channel RAM @ 1070 Mhz (15-15-15-36) ASUSTeK Prime Z370-A (LGA1151) MB 4095 Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (42C idle) 3TB Western Digital WDC HD (exclusive to FSX) MY FSX Installation: FSX Acceleration DX10 Fixer UTX Canada, USA, Tropics & Carribean Active Sky Next FSUIPC (Registered) FTX Global FTX NRM, SAK, SCA, NCA, PNW GSX REX 4 DX10 Settings: DX10 Anti Aliasing: 8x CSAA My fsx.cfg, NVidia Inspector .nip file, and DX10 profile files can be reviewed here.
