  1. FSX modified FS2004 RV-9A panel.new\ panel.cfg comment I was made aware that my new panel for RV-9A did not have a RPM gauge. I was trying to make my sim panel match a photo of a real RV-9A. I would think the plane has a RPM gauge but it is not seen in the photo. I also noticed that I did not use 19 in my list of gauges. Please edit the panel.cfg as follows using the new locations. Using windows10 you may need to remove panel.cfg from its folder, edit the file, and do not forget to return the file to its proper folder. gauge19 was skipped previously gauge19=Cessna172!Clock, 55, 385,70,70 gauge30=Cessna172!Clock, gauge30=CESSNA_172.RPM, 150, 350,90, 90 gauge39=Beech_Baron!OMI Lights, gauge39=Beech_Baron!OMI Lights, 605, 355, 25, 50 gauge40=Beech_Baron!DME, gauge40=Beech_Baron!DME,718, 306, 60, 35 If you like 2D panel this is a fun plane. All comments are welcome. J Dwayne Redding wbredsail@yahoo.com

  3. From J Dwayne Redding-- If you were one of those who downloaded the FSX new Textures and New Panel on 24 Dec 2020, I want to make up for a terrible upload and the only way I am able to do that is to offer you a customized single color texture with plane ID. There were 45 downloads when I wrote my first comment about my error and now that upload has been deleted from flightsim.com and I will refrain from any future uploads. Please do not let my error reflect badly on flightsim.com. They have been fantastic! I will watch for comments here for the next several weeks and I need your email to send you any files. I can say this upload works as intended. wbredsail@yahoo.com

FSX RV-9A Complete from converted FS2004. These three textures were first designed for FS2004. Someone told me that I could use them in FSX if they had a panel and sound change that was designed for FSX. Because I had already uploaded an FSX version of the RV-9A, this was an easy job. This is my first painting of an airplane and was prompted by comments by Harrison Jones who flies a real RV-9A, G-CEEP, which is mostly a solid yellow. I have also included a red version of the RV-9A and the original texture which was an unfinished plane, G-SNAV, by Chris Lampard that he kindly offered to the sim community. The new panel is somewhat similar to the actual panel of the G-CEEP. Be watching for a fantastic new scenery for Caernarfon Airport in Wales designed by my new friend Harrison Jones. 5. It will take me a few days to get my error corrected. What I will do if I'm allowed by flightsim is to upload my FS2004 plane but using my FSX panel from my previous FSX RV-9A plane. In this case, the alias sound is the same programming for both FS2004 and FSX. It will be a complete plane download and if you like flying the RV-9A, you will enjoy my next upload. I would try to explain my actions but that would probably only make things worse. J Dwayne Redding wbredsail@yahoo.com
  6. I have made a serious error... again. I did not upload the FS2004 model but just added the new textures to my FSX plane which works great if black is your favorite color. I will fix the problem and then I will take a long break from uploading to flightsim.com. For those that have already downloaded the bad file, I will customize a plane for you in a single color like the red or yellow plane upon request. I could possibly do more but no guarantee of that.

FSX RV-9A New Textures And New Panel. Requires RV-9A_FSX_UPDATED.ZIP. These three textures were first designed for FS2004. FS2004 RV-9A New Textures / New Panel. You need to have previously downloaded VANS_RV-9A_FS2004.ZIP. I uploaded that plane on 24 Oct 2020. The yellow texture was my first try at painting a plane and it was inspired by a comment from Harrison Jones who has flown the real G-CEEP RV-9A. See photos of real plane. Harrison will soon upload a fantastic scenery of Caernarfon Airport in Wales. The original plane was an unfinished model by Chris Lampard and I owe him a big Thank You. Basically the same upload as this for FSX will be uploaded in the next several days. By J Dwayne Redding.
  9. Simple fix for Checklist and Reference files not showing. In the Aircraft.cfg for each of the 3 planes RV-9A should have the following 2 lines: kb_checklists=RV-9A_Check and kb_reference=RV-9A_ref . The problem was that because i was working on a FS2004 RV-9A and well as the FSX models, I added the FSX in the name of the Checklist and Reference files and forgot to consider that. The files for FS2004 checklist and Reference are exactly the same for the RV-9A. This plane was well worth all the time I spent but I'm not sure I could do this again. However if you have a model that is giving you problems, I can possibly offer you constructive comment. J Dwayne Redding wbredsail@yahoo.com
  10. From J Dwayne Redding-- Somehow I failed to notice that the toe brakes were not effective enough on short field landing. In the Aircraft.cfg file under [brakes] is a line that should read toe_brakes_scale=1. - I will try that and lower my approach speed for those landings over an obstacle. There are 4 other lines of the cfg file that I do not think have any real effect but they are not consistent with the reference files I have provided. Under [flaps.0] (The 0 zero designates Electric powered.) There were numbers given for damaging speed and blowout speed that were beyond imagination. The lines should read: damaging-speed=105 KIAS and blowout-speed=115 KIAS Those are not numbers I can find in my notes but are based on the numbers that I have. Flaps @ 20 degrees has max speed of 96 KIAS and Full flaps has max speed of 70 KIAS. My original numbers came from a similar plane by someone else and may have been intended to prevent failure in the simulator. The same cfg file has wrong speeds under [Reference Speeds] and not all of the reference speeds are given here. It should read cruise_speed=156 KIAS and max_indicated_speed=182 KIAS Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks to all who gave it a try. Dwayne wbredsail@yahoo.com

FSX Van's RV-9A Updated Version 2. Van's Aircraft is the leader in home-built kit planes. The RV9A is a side by side two-seat with the nose wheel. My previous upload on June 2020 was mislabeled and this version has several changes and is for FSX only. This plane was built on a model designed by Chuck Dome after I asked for his assistance. I have made the blue version of the C Dome model as my own with reworking the .air and Aircraft.cfg files and a standard panel as opposed to a glass panel. Because the RV-9A is a kit the real cockpits vary widely from basic standard panel to the glass. The RV-9A has max speed of 182 KIAS, cruise speed of 157 KIAS, and a stall speed around 45 KIAS. I have made accessible the checklist and reference files with an icon provided to make things easier. By J Dwayne Redding.

FS2004 Van's RV-9A. Van's Aircraft is the leader in home-built kit planes. The RV9A is a side by side two-seater with nose wheel. This model was made possible by the designer Chris Lampard who allowed me to use an unfinished plane as a starting point. Because the plane is a kit the cockpit varies widely from basic standard to the glass. I chose what I was familiar with in designing the standard panel. I have offered the checklist and reference files that are accessible with icons to make things easier. The plane has max speed of 182 KIAS, cruises at 157 KIAS, and has stall speeds around 45 KIAS. 13. Important update suggestion for RV-9A. A day or so ago I decided to fly the RV-9A out of Mexico City, elev about 7000. I barely had enough power for level flight so I edited the aircraft.cfg to read under [piston_engine] power_scalar=1.25 . This improved the performance significantly. There may be other solutions but I wanted to get ahead of future disappointments for those kind people who have downloaded this plane. J Dwayne Redding BTW The clouds at the Mexico City airport were so low and so thick that it really was an IFR situation. Quite a shock when I had just selected world location and was expecting VFR conditions, and then to not have enough power.
  14. I have a similar plane that I used the same panel for which was a RV-6A but it is not one I feel I could share so I am sorry that my title mentioned FS2004. Today I discovered that my RV-9A has a strange event when you stop the pushback. I fixed that by opening the aircraft.cfg file and scrolling down to [GeneralEngineData], then edit the 2nd line which has Engine.0= -2.4, 0.0, 0.0 by changing -2.4 to 4.4. (I first tried 2.4 but that did not fix the problem, so I next tried 4.4 ) Notice the - (minus) is removed.) jdredding wbredsail@yahoo.com
  15. For anyone who may be losing interest in MSFS-- I began using MSFS about a year after the 1st simulator was sold and I have been a year or so behind every new simulator. I never had the patience to fly long trips with heavy jets in real time but doing takeoffs and landings (set up using slew and then saving the flight) will keep you challenged if you use a busy airport with traffic. Over 20 years my wife and I have done 20 cruises and it is nice to take one of my favorite planes and revisit some of the favorite locations or even visit a place we would perhaps like to go. Autopilot use is great when you are busy but actually trying to fly with wind and weather and without autopilot presents a challenge. Night time flying using instruments is always a challenge. I would suggest doing the same flight in day time a few times first. At 75 I still do editing panels, aircraft.cfg, and make numerous short flights to favorite places. Through the years I had periods of time where I was not using MSFS daily. I never felt comfortable flying using the internet but I do think that would be fun. When I was using FS2004 I designed airports and AI flights and both are a lot of fun. I just never got back into that with FSX.
