  1. Good points, all. I haven't been back to OAK for this yet, but I'll try a few variations and see what happens. In the end, there is nobody here but me, so what does it really matter :)
  2. I appreciate the responses, but I'm surprised. I would think that cockpit builders have to lock alternate views all the time. I'll pm Mr. Zippy, but will also ask on the cockpit builders forum. Thanks, Ed
  3. I've done lots of searching. I must not have the right search strings. I have a small extra window with a 2d view. If I hit 4 or 6, I look momentarily out the sides. How can I lock that view to the side? Thanks
  4. I'm thinking about a radio/gps/etc stack and considering the Propwash products. The only reference I see to that company here is that somebody sold some lightly used equipment. Does anybody have experience with these? It'd be about $800, so I don't really want to be unhappily surprised at anything :) For the record, I'm going to use this with FSX, and I'm aware that I need to purchase RealityXP gps to operate the GPS panel. Thanks, Ed Greenberg
  5. Oakland Airport KOAK operates commercial jets on 29 and GA on 27R and 27L with odd operations on 33. FSX ATC always gives me 29 in small GA aircraft. There doesn't seem to be a way to override this. Landing at 29 is not only unrealistic (not as real as it gets :)) and also has a monstrous long taxi to parking. When I asked for ILS27R, I got it, but then "circle to land runway 29". Any suggestions on how I can land 27R? Should I just go for it and see if they yell at me? Aside: When I was learning to fly in OAK, back in the 1980/90s, if you parked out at the "old tees", you could request to make a low approach 27R, landing 33. I experienced this with my instructor flying the plane. I don't know if they still do it, nor am I sure I would have ever tried it. Tnx, Ed
  6. On the B737, the EICAS shows me the fuel in pounds on each of the three tanks, and an indication 'FF' for each engine. At idle, on the ground, N1 is 23.7 and FF is 0.9. At high thrust, (100% N1) FF is 14.5. Assuming that FF is Fuel Flow, what units are being displayed? Thanks
  7. Sometimes I read a story or book that includes GA flying. I typically download the aircraft and re-enact the flights. If I want to get fancy, I locate hotels for overnights, and make simulated reservations. In one case, I actually built a fictional airport to fly to and from. Ed
