    Go for it!! It won't stand out in that crowd, but will fit in better than a Mooney or a Beechcraft.

    Give my regards to Mama Sanh and Sue Ling.

    And yes, tell me what you think of the left...

    I take your point. Having said that, thankfully most of the time the wind is fairly calm there. That's why 9 in and 27 out is the norm.
  6. Lefthand landing on 27 at TEX in a Mooney Acclaim

    After watching the guy land on 27 at TEX in his jet I wondered how doable it would be for a GA guy in a recip. single. So I fired up my Mooney Acclaim, or maybe it's Jan's, I lose track. And...

    I couldn't see any gauges and he didn't have HUD but IMO it seemed he touched down pretty hot, especially with that much head wind!! His roll out didn't end until he was well into the landing marks...

    Thee and Me both brother!!

    I just took off and shot a couple of landings onto 27 with one of those "cheap" King Airs. Remembering the comment about keeping the highway on the left for "noise...

    Thanks Jim & David,

    I can see with a 10-15 knot tailwind, you'd want an alternate approach, even there. The box canyon end isn't that awful close, especially if you have power to spare and...

    Hey Jim,

    That $1,700 per hour cost is just AOPA estimated costs on a King Air for fuel and FAA required work only. It doesn't include any expenses related to purchase, unexpected repairs,...

    Thanks Jim! And yes, a "bizjet" is the norm at TEX. Even a King Air @appx. $1,700 per hour average operating cost is considered "small potatoes" there. :o

    INVERTED!!!:eek::eek:

    I agree with G'erard, I'd probably rather take my chances at least 6 miles out than pass directly over the land in that part of the world!! Though that paint job sure isn't...

    Recently I took a Mooney and landed it at TEX (Telluride). Which is in a box canyon so landings are made on 9 while takeoff are from 27. Anyhow, I blew the landing and had to Go Around. Luckily...
