Thanks guys, I much appreciate your thoughts for me. Here's hoping that 2023 will be great for all of us, as well as for all those that still support FS2004.

Thanks so much.. Actually my third chance.. A year before my accident, I ended up in hospital for two months with Covid. Its great to be back simming. It's 3 months now that I'm out of hospital. I was in for 7 months.

Hi Mark, I agree, what works for me does not necessarily work for everyone else. Otherwise all is well. I'm recovering nicely from being knocked over in March 2022 & subsequently loosing my right leg from below the knee. 7 surgeries & 3 kidney dialysis later, things are looking up! Here's hoping that 2023 is going to be a better year than 2022!

Happy New Year all... Iv'e just got myself an Asus Ryzen 7 A15 laptop, Windows 11, with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, 16GB ram & 512GB SSB. It runs FS2004 & my particular addons perfectly, with no issues at all. It's my thing to run the latest hardware with the latest operating system. I'm also running FS2004 from a 2TB (USB 3) portable hard drive as well. I've compared that with running off the SSD speed wise with regard to loading the software & it's much of a muchness. As far as screensavers go, why not have a black screen acting as a saver? Thats the easiest way of doing it. As far as having the screen turning off after a certain time.. In 'Settings>Power & battery, I can set my screen to turn off, or the laptop to enter sleep mode anywhere between 1 minute and 5 hours. Long story short.. My Asus i5 laptop was stolen, hence my new laptop.
  5. Thats progress. Otherwise read the first post in this forum!
  6. I got a new laptop.. Asus Ryzen 7 500GB SSD, so my storage is a bit limited & I installed FS2004 onto my C:\ drive, then I copied & pasted it to my 2tb portable drive that is permanently plugged in to the laptop. FS2004 runs perfectly from that portable drive.

  9. Thanks for all your wishes & thoughts. I really appreciate all of them. So, the operation went very well, with no pain at all, apart from some weird phantom pain where my toes used to be. In retrospect, it was an easy decision for me to make. With both tibia & fibia broken & not knitting back together, a paralysed foot and then inflammation and abscess in my foot and ankle. I decided I wanted my life back, after 160 days in hospital. I'm very positive about this new journey of mine. A couple of days ago, a friend asked me how I'm coping, being a victim of a hit & run. I very quickly replied that I'm a surviver & not a victim! So..baby steps, one hop/step at a time.
  10. Thanks, guys, for your thoughts. I was supposed to go to theater today, however time was against us, so probably Wednesday or Thursday. It is quite an emotional thing but it's time I get my life back. A new journey for me.
  11. We do have a couple of surprises ahead of us. Both of which I cannot discuss, as I'm a beta tester for a very innovative designer. There will be both payware & freeware versions of 2 unique aircraft. The only clue is that correctly so, we have so many Boeings & 'buses. So..don't write of FS9'ers off yet. I must apologise for my lack of posts this year. I was a victim of a hit & run accident in March, and today is my Day 143 in hospital. I ended up lying in the middle of the road, then waking up in ICU. My injuries were 20 stitches in my forehead, 4 broken ribs, pelvis broken in 3 places, And both my fibia & tibia broken in an open wound. (Skin graft sorted that out)..Oh..also I had both bones in my right arm broken, I've a metal plate in My wrist as well as a broken baby finger. Oh.. 4 ribs as well! So my right leg has been in a metal frame since 3 months ago, with pins going from the frame, through the bones to stabilise the bones together. The big issue is, since Sunday my leg has become seriously infected, to the extent that I'll probably loose my leg from just below my knee. The big red flags are the infection, the tibia & fibia bones not knitting (it's been 3 months since the frame).. Plus since the accident, I have no feeling in my foot, from ankle down.. Anyway, I'm alive and hopefully I'll be contributing a lot more to my favourite site!
  12. Have you had a look at the very first post at the top of this forum? All is explained there.
  13. & FS2004 works very well with Windows 11..
  14. Dunno what to suggest, or say.. I've updated to W11 with no issues either.
  15. So.. Do not install to it's default C:\Program Files directory, but to C:\ Maybe try to right-click the FS9.exe, then Properties, then select Compatibility, choose XP mose, then tick Run as Administrator. Maybe that will do it. Have you seen my Sticky on the top of this forum with regard to installing into Windows 10.
