I downloaded this file long ago. I just flew Paris and had found it put a windmill in the center of the Eifel Tower.
  1. The file was freeware. It was miami_city_x.zip downloaded from right here on flightsim.com. At this point, the easier out seems to be just let it in and forget about it.
  2. In the version I installed, KMIA, KTMB and KOPF are not individual entries. They are included as bgl files within the Miami City X addon file.
  3. I should be clear. the Miami City X that I have came from this site. There are others elsewhere. As for the deletion, I deleted only the Miami City X addon and I agree with you that no other scenery should be affected. Unfortunately, that's not the case. As noted his other scenery was not available to FSX after that. Something else is at work here. It's worth noting also that II never have had to deal with files in the Program Data folder to make changes to FSX scenery. It's weird. I've been using FSX since its inception years and years ago. I have installed literally hundreds of scenery files over the years and this one take the cake. For the time being, I guess I'll just leave it installed so as not to have to see a scenery file missing alert every time I load FSX.
  4. My next attempts: I removed Miami City X from the FSX Addon folder Then I went to this directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX Then tried 2 things: 1. From the Scenery.cfg file located there, deleted 2 sections that included Miami X. That got rid of Miami City X and related error message; but, it also caused the elimination of access to his other scenery even though those were still in the addon library. 2. I also tried deleting that Scenery file entirely which causes FSX to remake the file. This had the same result. Miami City X was gone but so was access to his other addons.
  5. I tried rerunning the installer. It offers a variety of features to be installed. I deselected all of them. It ran and Miami X is still installed and still does not appear in the FSX listing of addon scenery. I got out your sign and tried it out.
  6. The Addon Scenery Item is apparently normal. I just checked -- I have a old second computer on which I did not install Miami X and it to has the Addon entry. The original Miami X issue remains a mystery. I've been running FSX since its inception and this one's got me guessing.
  7. Zippy, I'll save the sign as there's been many times I could have used that. As for the problem, I combed the scenery list as you indicated and there's no Miami or Miami X left in there. Oddly enough, among the various addons, there was one entry called "Addon Scenery". And, that begs a second question, is it normal to have such a file in that addon scenery area?
  8. It has been removed from the Addon Scenery folder. I have looked in the FSX folder, also my FSX files within the User account and the FSX files in Program Data; but, I cannot find the folder "FSX/Settings/Scenery/Scenery Library". Where is that folder located?
  9. I should add: While the file shows up in the FSX add-on directory on the disk, the file name does not show up within the program in the add-on menu. So there's nothing to delete from with the program. If the file is just deleted, FSX flags it as a missing file.
  10. Did that and the next time I load FSX I get a message that the scenery is missing. I can do that then just go ahead and load everything up and run FSX; but, every time after that I get the scenery missing message.
  11. Members 6 52 posts Report post Posted 1 minute ago My original file came from here and I'm on Windows 11. I tried this: 1. Manually edited the scenery.cfg file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX by deleting the Miami City X section. 2. Deleted the Miami City X folder from addon scenery in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery. 3. Deleted the Filelistindex.DAT in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\SceneryIndexes 4. Ran FSX giving it time to rebuild index. It ran fine; but, on any restart, even though no scenery is there, Miami City X is still flagged as a missing file.
  12. Tried it both ways. Neither way works. There's no program listing or option to delete it via windows add/remove feature. So it can't be removed there. Within FSX, it never shows up in the Scenery Library. If you just delete the folder Miami City X folder from FSX/addon scenery via File Explorer, FSX cites it as a missing file the next time you load FSX. I've been enjoying FSX since the earliest edition came out and this is something I've never run into before.
