  1. I would never have thought to start up MSFS 2020 by beginning with WMR, but it worked perfectly. Once again I thank you very much for your valuable help which seems to always be there when I need it.
  2. I use an HP Reverb headset. I was aware of the problem with accidentally trying to access the VR mode in anything other than the full-screen mode. So before I pressed the Ctrl-Tab key combo I pressed the ALT-Enter combo to verify MSFS was running in full screen, rather than a window. When I booted the program up today there was a notification of a major update. I clicked the update button and about a half-hour later 25gb had been installed. There had been a notification that if this update caused the program to take much longer to load I was to find a certain folder called "community", remove it, and place it in a different place, and then reboot the program. I purchased MSFS 2020 through the Microsoft Store. I was unable to install the program on my C drive because of its large size and instead put it on a secondary hard drive. When I searched for the "community" folder on that drive the search turned up nothing.
  3. I've been flying in VR mode for a couple of weeks now. Today when I booted up MSFS 2020, I got the welcome screen to come up just fine. I pressed the map window and then the Ctrl+Tab key combination to take me into VR. When I attempt to put on my VR mask the cursor disappears, the screen goes black, and then I'm connected to my Microsoft mixed reality portal. The cursor disappears even before I get the headset fully on. It only takes the very top of my head being inserted into the headset, and I can watch the cursor disappear. If I continue to place the mask fully on, I soon find I'm in Microsoft mixed reality portal. This has happened many times before, but I've always been able to spend the next half hour or so playing with it to finally get myself able to fly in VR. But not today. Any suggestions?
  4. It's always best to make sure your headset is controlling things and not the desktop. I had things set wrong.
  5. Occasionally when I am starting up MSFS 2020 and I haven't put my headset on yet, I'm using my mouse get things set up. Once the software is loaded and I'm looking at the various windows I have to choose from I'm able to use the cursor on my computer monitor. When I place the headset on, the mouse is frozen in place on the virtual screen. Before I place it on my head I can watch the cursor moving on the VR screen and I'll keep moving it on as I slip it on my head. But at a certain point just as I'm slipping it on, the cursor will freeze in place on the VR screen.
  6. The save/load function is only available if you are using the non-VR mode. I've made another post to fully explain this but because this post has to do with the same matter and some may be following this post I thought it would be helpful to cover it here as well. The following is a copy of that recent post. In order for you to use the load and save functions, you need to be in the non-VR mode and it works perfectly well there. It simply does not work if you try to load or save when you are flying in VR. In VR you are given the option to select the load and save button, but press it and your screen will go black and you will have a heck of a time trying to get control of the screen again. I use two monitors so I'm able to go to my second monitor and restart my computer which is the only way I've been able to find to unlock my main monitor and shut down MSFS 2020 in this situation. If you are using only a single monitor you may have to do a forced shut down of your computer because the simulator has crashed and the monitor will be showing a frozen screen. I'm making a bit of an assumption here in that I haven't tested that yet because I don't use a single monitor. You are able to use the Load and Save feature just fine as long as you are "not" flying in VR. The only way you can use it is if you 1. stay in the non-VR mode and load it from there. Then 2. you can switch over to VR mode and click your fly button. When you are ready to load again you will need to shut down MSFS 2020 and restart it again and then use the above steps to once again load the saved location into the program. I don't know if there is a way to report this to the developers but it does seem to me to be a rather significant bug that should be attended to.
  7. Actually, the title I used is a little misleading. You really "can't" for practical purposes use Load and Save when using Virtual Reality. You do have a kind of workaround but it's almost not worth it to use it because it is frustrating as hell. In order for you to use the load and save functions, you need to be in the non-VR mode and it works perfectly well there. It simply does not work if you try to load or save when you are flying in VR. 8. I use the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Throttle and flight stick. Most of the defaults set into MSFS 2020 work out of the box but I've changed a few because of the way I've been using them in the past are more comfortable for me. The main problem with the darn thing for new people is the cost of it. I bought mine for about $425 a year and a half ago. I see it listed now on Amazon (for various prices all of which are much higher than I paid for mine) some of which are for up to nearly $1000. This is almost totally because of the release of MSFS 2020 and the interest it has created. The Warthog is a wonderful device, heavy and tough, and has many buttons and switches which I will never use, but since it is a replica of the actual controls in the Warthog, obviously they are on this device too.
  9. There is a huge amount to learn about MSFS 2020 and only a few places to find it. I'm glad you answered this question.
  10. After installing the new simulator and many hours later actually being able to fly in it in VR, I noticed there was a free livery offer. I clicked on it and watched it download it but I don't have a clue where it was downloaded to and where to go from this point to begin to actually use these liveries. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  11. There is a procedure set up to allow you to do this save flight function. Perhaps it will work but just not work in Virtual Reality which is what I'm using. I get to the place where I want to save the flight and I hit the ESC key, this opens another window and I hit the space bar which then has a "Load/Save" button. Once I press this button the software crashes. Everything freezes and I have to restart the program again.
  12. In Microsoft Flight simulator X there was a procedure where you could arrive at a particular location when landing, and lock in that exact location. Then you could return to that exact location and attempt that landing again and again and again until you got it right. Is that feature available in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?
  13. Yes, I've had the water waves always set on high. In my version, there is no ultra. I was expecting the type of wave action that we had on Flight sim X and prior ones. When flying in Hawaii you could follow the waves until they hit the beach leaving foam. With this version, there is really none of that. You see stationary lines of foam that appear to be waves heading to shore, but they never move. You must have some wind or it just looks like a still image, and you need about 25 to 30 mph to notice much movement at all. I like pretty much everything else, but the water is a big disappointment.
  14. Hi , I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have been trying to figure out how to make water more realistic. I just took a flight over Honolulu and there was no wave action at all. The waves were there but were all frozen in place. Everything else seems to be working just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions. 15. Hi Steve, Thanks, I did have it in windowed mode. Works fine now. There is another thing I'd like to ask. When I was doing some of the training classes, the box containing some of the advice text from the cyber trainer was right in the middle of my screen blocking my view of the runway. How do you move those boxes out of sight or at least out of the way.
