  1. I’m enjoying MSFS so far, and the free a320 fly by wire is fantastic. Would I ever use this to obtain a real world license? Of course not. Does that bother me? Not in the least. I’m enjoying it like those who are enjoying past sims. That’s all that counts isn’t it?
  2. Which sub-forum here (flightsim.com) , or alternatively, which other forum would you suggest to ask questions about specific aircraft? I'm not designing airplanes nor looking to discuss down deep software nuances --- I'm seeking simple tips on trim and speeds for take-off and landing. That sort of thing is *sometimes in the included docs, but not always. It is also *sometimes in a flight manual, but not always. I just want to talk with people who fly certain planes. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  3. New in town but learning and my question is i'm having trouble closing and saving an aircraft.cfg file after say i add a texture. I will click save and it will come back with an incorrect file or location, and I am looking at the location and I did not edit it and it looks correct so not sure what is happening. I cannot just click save and exit. The only way I can close Aircraft.cfg is to cancel and then exit so the change is not saved. If anyone has a answer to me I would appreciate it. I will try again and then I guess get a screen of the response if it keeps doing it and see what I am missing but if notepad opened the file it has the exact location and I'm just editing it and trying to save it. I looked at the FAQ but they seem to reference adding changing info and then save and exit as this should work. Thanks
  4. As a newbie I have been looking for a VA that let's me fly what and when I want without having to go through "ranks" and download other crap like ACARS or what ever! I don't want rules and ranks! I wanna fly! It took alot of searching before I found this gem! I won't SPAM but it is worth a look. Even if you don't join their VA, you can still enjoy the free forum and live server! You get to fly any aircraft where ever the heck you want! As long as realistic they will post and they have 9 hubs with over 5,000 routes but you are not required to fly any URL REMOVED ! They also have many Award Tours and a damn long Hop List! Don't take my word for it, take a look!
  5. Hi everyone at fs.com! thank you for providing this space with all the knowledge and expertise for newcomers such as me. I used to be an avid Flight simmer back in my youth, mostly always tended to drift towards WWII or WWi sims, something about those old warbirds and crates that always had an appeal to me. But I do remember trying some of the other modern sims such as falcon in the heyday. My favorite all time sim that I still feel nostalgic for was microsoft's combat flight simulator 2 set in the pacific war. For some reason that was the sim that got me to really immerse myself in the world and environment to the point where the machine became an extension of me. Returning now, i'm struggling with all the basics. Feel like i don't even know how to crawl but keep trying to walk. Sims are also even more detailed now.. I don't remember fiddling with mixtures and radiators back in cfs2 but i'm all up for the increased depth and simulation. Just overwhelmed on how to get better. I have been improving.. at least I survived 3 out of 6 sorties yesterday (no kills, just stayed alive and did get a few snapshots) in RoF. I can take off and land with my chosen planes most of the times lol. But the inbetween is a mess. Things that i'm struggling with and in which i'm asking for some direction on how to get better (hints, guides, tips, video tutorials, any resources you may know that could help me on my way): 1. Biggest issue I think is Spacial Awareness. I have trackIR (currently just using the reflectors which may be part of the problem but have a delauney IR kit coming) but I find I just can't seem to keep track of my enemy the moment we start rolling around each other.. Or I start on one dude, roll and without realizing i'm suddenly tracking another while the one I was on before is now stalling and low E somewhere behind me (eventually recovering and getting on my 6)... If i'm high I often lose track of the enemies beneath me, tried boom and zoom but between losing track of the enemy, miscalculating vectors and failing the boom, over climbing or not climbing enough... it often ends in failure . Turn fights again tend to go poorly cause I lose track under wings or under carriage. 2. Basic maneuveuring tutorials - I 've been reading In Pursuit, also have Fighter pilot: tactics and maneuvering which I haven't started. And been watching the Air combat tutorial library on youtube on BFM and Acrobatics. But even these don't seem to cover some of the absolute basics, such as proper form for reversal and extensions as i'm not sure if i'm doing these correctly. Is there a resource that really starts from the basics (crawling before walking). I mostly find that I don't know how to use my roll effectively both for SA and in managing my energy during engagements.
  6. On the right side of all screens, I have a round object displayed, black with a blue border and variably pulsing bright blue interior. I can't make it disappear. It appears to be tied to the sounds generated by the program but is there regardless whether I have the computer speakers muted. Does anyone know how to make this go away? I just downloaded MSFS 2020 yesterday on a brand new Dell Alienware laptop I bought especially to use MSFS. Everything else seems to be operating perfectly so far. I was an active user from FS 3.0 through FSX, but haven't used FS for about 10 years, so I'm as excited as both a newbie and an experienced user. Thanks, Petter.
  7. I use three monitors for my FSX-SE set-up. All three display VC view with the two outside monitors panned left and right respectively. This gives me 180 degrees of VC view with little distortion. The problem is I can’t get anti-aliasing to work on those two undocked windows on the extra monitors. I was hoping to have my graphics card do the anti-aliasing but I can’t get my Radeon RX 580 to do the anti-aliasing even with the latest drivers. I’ve already posted a thread about the Radeon card problem. In this thread I’d like to see if there’s any way to get native FSX-SE anti-aliasing to work on undocked windows that are moved over to extra monitors.
  8. I used previous Flight Sim products but after too long away I want to start again. I have been trying to purchase the Flight Sim but only find add-ons. Please assist in obtaining the current version of FS. Thanks.
  9. Hello All! I run an Organization called the Historic virtual Air Force. We operate US Air Force aircraft from WWII up to 1999. We are a brand new organization but this project has been in work since June by a couple of long time veterans of virtual Military organizations. Some differences you will find with us over other Virtual Military Organizations are: 1: We allow pilots to decide how much they want to get from this organization. Whether that means flying every day or just a reason to pull out your favorite war bird once a month 2: We offer full X-Plane support. X-Plane has been neglected in the virtual special operations field for too long. We have some beautiful military aircraft (Khamsim ) and we want to take full advantage of those models! 3: A wider variety of aircraft. We have over 50 years of aviation history to choose from. You can fly anything from a C47 to an A10 Warthog here! 4: A chance to take on a leadership role. Many military organizations have been around for decades. Although that is an impressive feat, it makes it difficult for new folks to participate in the leadership positions. the HvAF is always looking for new members who want to share their visions and passions on our staff team, all you have to do is speak up! I hope to see some of you folks as some of our first active members! If you have any questions or ideas, leave a comment here.
  10. Hi Gents, I need some assistance in resolving why I can not get my computer to connect with the ACARS system used by the VA I am trying to reconnect with. I am using a new Dell 9810 XPS Desktop, Win10 OS, I have the correct FSUIPC module installed for FS9, which I am flying. I have SIMCONNECT installed, Microsoft.net Framework that came with the Win10 OS and the ACARS program related to the VA I have been flying for. The folks at that VA have assisted me in every way to help me get back into the game, but to of no avail. Is there anyone out there that could assist me. I would be much obliged.
  11. I want to join a virtual airline that uses mainly prop planes and has it’s own (not as strict) atc (not vatsim). Do any even exist?
  12. Thomas Ruth years ago released unfinished copies of the Graf Zeppelin and Hindenburg airships. However I do have a completed copy of the Hindenburg, but still looking for the Graf. I have seen pics of a completed graf on the web at various sites. Does anyone have a copy or know I can find the completed ship? There is also a USS Macon for fsx only, does anyone know of a working fs9 copy. Thanks to all in advance.
  13. I've changed my motherboard and had my FSX on a separate hd and now the sim has a side by side conflict. Anyone dealt with this? I spent better part of a Saturday on the Microsoft site and struck out. Have about a decade of work on this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. DCS is by far the most realistic sim available, and it's FREE. It's the stand alone killer flights sim you are looking for.
