  1. Has anyone ever worked on a Tacit Blue addon for FSX? Preferably as a freeware addon? I think it would make a great addition to my library of aircraft addons. For those of you who don't know. Tacit Blue was a stealth tech demonstrator developed & flown in the mid 1980’s by Northrop. It eventually led to stealth technology that was later used in the B-2 bomber. If nobody is working on one or planning one I may try making the addon myself & posting it on FlyAwaySim for free with full VR cockpit & everything.
  2. Nice, looks allot like a B24. Royal Air Force equivalent?
  3. That’s pretty much what I’m doing. Exited for FS2020. Been far too long since the last major MFS release. Planning on building a gaming PC sometime this year to get the most out of the new graphics & stuff in FS2020. Right now, I’m just running my old CD copy of FSX on my basic off-the-shelf laptop PC that I got in 2018 for college stuff. The Acceleration expansion I snagged for $18 from a used book store online which to my surprise came with a copy of 2004 History of Flight inside to.
  4. There was FSX Deluxe which I bought originally new & then they made the Acceleration expansion pack for it. They eventually ended up combining both to make FSX Gold which I ended up getting instead of getting the Acceleration Expansion & tacking it onto FSX Deluxe since I was starting fresh with a new PC at the time anyway. Then allot of years past by & one of the install disks started to fail so I ended up regretfully tossing my copy of FSX Gold. After a little while longer I ended up wanting the Acceleration content after jumping back into the hobby again. At first I tried extracting the content from the old hard drive which kinda worked at first but started having issues. Missions didn't work right(no dialog or waypoints) & planes flew erratically & texture glitches like instrument panel lights not working at all, aircraft canopies turning all black instead of remaining clear glass & of course registration errors that prevented me from playing for more than 30 minutes. It was a mess. This eventually forced me to just get a used copy of Acceleration expansion pack & just tac it onto FSX Deluxe since all copies of Gold were to expensive to me.
  5. I just got my old FSX Deluxe copy up to FSX Gold specs(FSX Deluxe with Acceleration) by adding the Acceleration expansion to it. But every time I try to find a legit copy FSX Gold in very good condition its almost always price gouged. I originally got my FSX Gold at Walmart for under $20 brand new(unopened) back in the early 2010’s which has since stopped working which forced me to get a used copy of the Acceleration expansion for almost $20. Since then, most online sellers are charging upwards of $40 some even over $100 per copy of FSX Gold. I seriously doubt the expansion is worth anywhere near that much. At most maybe $50($30 for FSX Deluxe & $20 for Acceleration seems reasonable to me) for a never opened copy. What made these sellers justify these insane price gouges for FSX Gold? I get that the EH101 P51 & F18 are desirable aircraft for allot of players but not worth insane price gouging even if the copy was never used or even opened.
  6. Yeah, a better more robust ATC system would be great. It also needs to be able to view all airports within radio range which sometimes can encompass an entire state & not just the ones ‘nearest’ or ‘farther from’ you. & being able to select any runway for landing as they are available most of the time anyway. & rarely do I ever encounter another aircraft trying to land or take off in my way in FSX when I perform a landing.
  7. I think the crashing issue had something to do with how I first tried setting up the acckey file which some in other forums have suggested imputing the product key there. I’ll give the FSX.config thing a try to see if it makes any improvements. So far it works great. Played through around 5 or so of the missions & free flight for a few hours with no issues so far. Its just like when I originally had FSX Gold or the next best thing at least.
  8. Looks like I finally got it to work! Had to do an uninstall & clean reinstall of both FSX & Acceleration after making those modifications with the registry editor. Thanks Jethrom, it really helped. My God, how the heck could Microsoft screw up on this so badly? Made what should have been a simple thing complicated & unnecessarily frustrating for those who aren't as tech savvy.
  9. Just gave it a try. The activation key prompt came up & product key got registered but now every time I try starting up FSX it just loads & closes without progressing to the main menu.
  10. So my old copy of FSX Gold no longer worked after countless attempts of installing it to a new PC & mainly wanted it for the Acceleration expansion so I ended up tossing it. Bad disk I guess. Luckily I also happened to have a copy of FSX Deluxe & decided to get a used copy of the Acceleration expansion pack. The FSX Deluxe copy installed on the new computer just fine but after installing the used copy of Acceleration it basically nullified my Deluxe product key registration & turned it into a free trial version that only played for 30 minutes. I uninstalled the whole thing & reinstalled FSX Deluxe which worked fine without Acceleration but ended up having the same error & enters free trial mode after trying Acceleration again. What is causing this? This is an official licensed Microsoft product meant to tac onto the Deluxe version of FSX as that’s how FSX Gold was basically setup. I also notice the FSX Acceleration install wizard doesn't even prompt me to activate the product key. I tried sifting through as many product key related files as I could to find the issue no avail. Part of me is tempted to dig through the CD files for the product key activation prompt in my copy of FSX Deluxe to see if that can register my Acceleration since there doesn't seem to be one there. Microsoft really should develop an easier way to activate or reset these product keys online. Its honestly more of a nuisance to users rather than an anti-theft measure for Microsoft.
  11. I would like to be able to hear from & respond to other NPC aircraft to add a touch of realism. Maybe someday in FS2020 or future editions. Should be easy for Microsoft to add a handful of AI & player responses to NPC aircraft these days.
  12. I’ve been a flight sim fan since FSX first came out & was pretty hyped when they announced FS2020. 2020 is now here so it shouldn't be long now before we can get our hands on the next gen MFS. FSX was great & all but expansions were very limited & Acceleration or Gold(Deluxe including Acceleration) were the only worth while ones that are getting harder to find & private sellers tend to price gouge them. I would like to see Microsoft include everything added to FSX since its inception(at least everything up until FSX Gold) but knowing Microsoft they’d rather have us buy the expansions separately. So can we hope for similar expansions like acceleration? Or will they just throw in a few basic civilian aircraft & leave addons up to the modders?
  13. Addons, lots of addons & any available expansions I can get my hands on which isn't much since all Microsoft gave us was Acceleration & Gold which was just Deluxe that includes Acceleration the only worth while expansion for FSX. Hopefully FS2020 expansions will include more but most of the addons I get are free from 3rd party developers & some work as well as or better than payware. Two of my favorite addons are the V-22 & updated F-22. Might try out the XB-70 for my next payware addon.
  14. I’ve been running FSX Deluxe edition just fine on my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop that I got back in 2018 which is a pretty basic PC when it comes to gaming computer standards. Waiting on a copy of FXS acceleration expansion pack(fingers crossed that works) I don't know why others are having such issues with trying to install & run FSX on a basic Windows 10 build. Keep trying, I’m sure it will eventually work. So far I can confirm FSX does install & work on Windows XP, 7 & 10 without much issues. Didn't even bother trying 8 or 8.1 as those OSs had the most issues especially with PC CD ROM games like FSX.
