  1. Hi Steve Good to here from Yoy again.

Sorry for the late reply - I don't usually log in anymore other than to reply to threads, so I missed this message for quite a few days.

Shimmering + ATI Cards > MIP MAP settings have to be adjusted to Your liking. Try lowering them 1 notch at a time, with a good long flight test flight to watch for trade-offs in the change's You make.

One thing to observe with MIP MAP is engine vibration and slow aircraft movement - IE, park at a detailed airport )Fences work great) with the default Baron with the eniges running - note the shimmering of the Fench. Now shut down the engines and note the shimmering has stopped.

  2. Hello sir!

Long time. I actually bought a new PC, put FSX into it, and not happy at all! I had uninstalled FS9 (darn!) and junked everything in it. Worst thing I could have done after so many good years with it. Well, I kept FSX, but also reinstalled FS9. After having it working so fine for so long, I forgot a lot of the good settings. I suped up my machine, so with everything at max I still get a steady 50FPS if I want. My problem is the scenery and probably has to do with the card setting and not FS. I have an ATI HD8300 series with 512MB. What's killing me is the "twinkling" or "sparkling" effect I get with the night scenery lights. Almost look like christmas lights. What do you think I can adjust on the card to cure this? Also in the daytime, my building textures have a "rippling" effect and not just a solid image with no ripples. Whatever advice you can pass on is greatly appreciated. Nice to be back with good old FS9. Thanks much,

    Steve
