  1. I played dear old FSX for many years but drifted into wargaming for the past few years. I want to get back into flight simming and just wonder which are the latest super-duper ones nowadays that you can recommend? My PC is high endish so no worries there..:) Thanks
  2. YES!! If we buy games/sims from Steam they usually do no-quibble refunds provided we haven't played it (or tried to get it working) for more than 2 hours; I can vouch for that because I got a refund on a flight sim last year..:)
  3. Sorry I can't find a Tech help section so i'll try my luck here..:) This below is my NVidia resolution option screen and I use the highlighted reso for all my games and sims and it seems to work fine. But why are the top five in their own 'Ultra' group separate from the 'PC' group? My only concern is that by using an 'Ultra', I might be putting too much of a strain on my PC, leading to possible overheating problems or something, what do you guys think? And what does 'Ultra' mean exactly? Thanks, answers on a postcard please..:) -------------------------------------------
  4. Thanks mate, I've been away doing all my flying in the Armed Assault III multiplayer servers for a couple of years, I specialise in transporting my human troops around in my Blackfish (Osprey), it's a beast to fly and only a few players are - ahem- skilled enough to handle it. And as a longtime wargamer I kinda enjoy dodging flak and missiles..:)
  5. Hi guys I've been sidetracked in wargames for a year or two but now I hear MSFS 2020 has just been released, so can I ask a stupid question- shall I buy it from Steam or somewhere else? From past experience I know that Steam download times can be horrendously long so I'd prefer to buy it from somewhere else with a faster d/l time if possible, any recommendations?
  6. I'm a total PC dummy and only know how to waggle my joystick to make my little planes go WHEEH! so it's no use asking me (sniffle). All I know is that I solved all my simming problems years ago when I bought FSX and a super-duper PC to play it..:)
  7. I've never tried it, but I think air racing against other people would be fun...:)

  9. Hi, I live in the UK too, what are your favourite UK addons? At the moment all I've got is southern england photoscenery.
  10. I've never owned P3D, so as a matter of interest can you tell us what (if anything) makes it better than FSX? I had X-Plane 10 last year but didn't keep it, so as a matter of interest can you tell us if they've finally fixed the longstanding bug that made single-engine prop planes slowly develop a roll as if they've got no natural stability, as no amount of careful trimming would make the wings stay level.
  11. Incidentally when we emulate flights we have to emulate the weather conditions too but they're not always known. For example as Earheart approached Howland all we know for sure is that she was heading into the rising sun. If there was haze about, the island was probably hidden in the glare especially if clouds were floating around too, and she could have missed seeing it by just a few miles. And we don't know what winds she encountered earlier that may have shifted her off course.
  12. I'm retired, and computing is my RW, nothing else matters..:) I never married because I never wanted to be a family man or have noisy smelly kids, it's bad enough when my nieces visit me with their toddlers and I have to go through the usual checklist before they arrive- Hide all sharp objects to stop getting stabbed in the leg again. Hide scissors to stop my computer wiring being cut through. Hide pencils and pens to stop them scrawling on my walls and books. Remove everything from the fridge temporarily and put it on a high shelf so they can't sling eggs around or empty milk on the floor. When they arrive sit in a hardback chair to protect my kidneys from karate kicks and punches. Hide my computer and monitor to stop them pounding on the keys and leaving greasy fingerprints on the screen. In fact the situation's got so bad just lately that I've stopped answering the door when they turn up, and lie low til they've gone..:)
  13. All I know is that there used to be some Rick Piper models at Skysim, but I hear he's now uploaded them to here- http://www.cbfsim.co.uk/CBFS_HOME.php and he was talking to people in their forum in June 2016, (scroll down to the 7th post) so he's still around if you want to register there and talk to him about what happened to all the Skysim stuff- http://www.cbfsim.co.uk/cbfs_bb/search.php?keywords=rick+piper&sid=35f865d351ddbee418c1c6f881127711
  14. Fascinating, but what messed you up? I just ran a File Search and found these two CH46's for FSX but I couldn't find a CH-43 for FSX. ----------------------------------------------- However I found these two CH-43's for FS2004, but they're called by the British name 'Wessex'-
