Problem with thrust reverser

I downloaded a freeware version of the ATR72-500 for FS9, AT725den.zip. It is a fairly nice freeware model. I've fixed the fuel consumption problem (1000+ gph). I have one problem that I can't figure out. Once I engage the thrust reverse on the engines they will not come out. If I move the throttles to far the aircraft starts backing up, and too far the tail drops to the ground. I prefer not to back into my parking spots.

 

Has anyone had this problem and solved it on this model, or could anyone give suggestions on how to fix it?

It is normal for the aircraft to back-up when it is standing and you engage TR. It should not fall on its tail though. Perhaps the fuel distribution and COG has something to do with it. Also "will not come out" what do you mean? Assuming the throttle gets stuck in reverse? Also tried to find this aircraft to test to no avail. Do you have a life link to the download?

So, I have the Saitek proflight yoke and throttles. FSUIPC is setup to decrease the throttle slowly when my throttles are in their full back position. When I bring them to idle FSUIPC is setup to bring the throttles to throttle cut or idle. These settings work for all the aircraft I fly. With the model I reference at the end of this post I bring the throttles back thus putting the engines/props into reverse. When I bring the throttles to idle (which should bring the engines/props out of reverse) and then advance them the aircraft proceeds to go backwards instead of forwards. The aircraft file is at725den.zip.

Hi Robert,

yes, very nice model but as you mentioned it falls on the tail and throttles do not respond. The panel and air file are OK but the aircraft.cfg, mainly the weight and balance section is causing this. I managed fix it a bit. The aircraft does not fall on the tail and takes off OK but there are many tweaks needed in this cfg to make the flight perfect. Honestly I did not have time to fine-tune it but here it is in case you want to play with it. Just replace the text in your cfg by below. But please copy the original one!

Peter,

First I want to thank you for taking the time to look at this problem -- at all. Very nice. Next I want to insure that I fully understand your feedback. Thus, are you saying that, with the .cfg file listed here, you were able to slow the aircraft by engaging the thrust reversers and then taxi off of the runway. Or, for that matter, while taxing engage the thrust reversers to slow, and then continue taxing ... in the forward direction. That in a nutshell was my problem. Land, engage thrust reversers and then not being able to taxi off the runway. I look forward to hearing from you and again thanks for looking into this for me.

Yes to all your questions, just tried it. BUT this cfg still needs to be fine-tuned since the low speed flight causes stall. Regret, I do not have time to do it. Save your original cfg and try it.

Additionally to below. Just found out that a different airfile is required to work with the altered cfg. This takes care of the low speed stall. I cannot attach the airfile here but if you send me private message with email, I can zip it to you.
