  1. I have recently purchased, (and acquired some free) photo-real ground textures for FSX. I Have MegaSceneryEarth v3, covering Utah (newer) and I recently found BlueSkyScenery covering Utah (much older). In my humble opinion the BlueSky version is much better than the newer MegaScenery. The problem: After downloading BlueSky Utah there is about 5 to 6 missing tiles on their download website (broken links). My question is: Will the two photo-real sceneries work together? Can I put MegaScenery on a lower layer (in FSX scenery setup) and BlueSky on a higher layer and then have the MegaScenery tiles fill in where the BlueSky tiles are missing? Thanks for any insights you may have. Jay
  2. I finally got it activated, thanks to all for your input. I did the phone call activation, but you need to be persistent to get to the automated exchange of long numbers. I had to keep saying no to all the product categories they were suggesting, until they finally said "Are you at your activation screen now"? Lets begin.:)
  3. Thanks for your response. Poorly worded, Yes I meant to say “single genuine key code” by “good” I meant that, they came in the original box of FSX gold Edition. Actually there two product keys, one for FSX and one for Acceleration. Microsoft usually only offers support for 10 years, so that is why I suspect that the authorization cannot find the server. FSX is now 15 years old. Has anyone, within the past year been able to authorize through the FSX server, a legal version of FSX Gold Edition with a "genuine key code"? Thank you for your feed back.
  4. I have been away from flight-simulators for a while and I have recently acquired FSX Gold with good Key code numbers. When I go to “activate” it says that “The activation server could not be reached”. Does this mean that FSX Gold (in the year 2021) is now a dead flight simulator and unable to activate? I have it installed on a Windows XP SP3 computer. Thank you for your help.
  5. Problem solved. Thanks to all for your contributions, it all helped with fixing this problem. What I have found so far: 1) Download and read the “Aircraft Container SDK FS2004” is a must, especially the part on “Contact Points”. 2) There are two distinct categories in the Contact Point chart: * “Contact Points” (vertical column #) - this range is: 0 – 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 – with no # limit. The first three points represent: “Point.0=” the front wheel or the tail wheel, “Point.1=” the left front wheel, “Point.2=” the right front wheel. I do not know what the other points are for. * “Contact Elements” (horizontal row #) – this range is: 1 – 16, only. They establish what element is being adjusted, e.g. #4 “Vertical Position” or #7 “Wheel Radius (see SDK list). It is important to not confuse the two numbering systems of Points & Elements. The “Elements” from left to right: (as per the SDK) 1- Class 2- Longitudinal Position (feet) 3- Lateral Position (feet) 4- Vertical Position (feet) 5- Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute) 6- Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right) 7- Wheel Radius (feet) 8- Steer Angle (degrees) 9- Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid) 10- Max/Static Compression Ratio 11- Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped) 12- Extension Time (seconds) 13- Retraction Time (seconds) 14- Sound Type 15- Airspeed limit for retraction 16- Airspeed that gear gets damage Here is what it looks like in chart form: Jay
  6. Thank you CRJ for getting me pointed in the right direction, a very good resource, spot on. Jay
  7. Greetings, I have an AI aircraft and its front wheels sink in to the ground (see photo). This is not a swamp. All other AI aircraft on site function properly. Does any one have any ideas on where I can start to look for the problem? I assume it is in the aircraft.cfg file. Hi Peter, You may have already tried this but I will still suggest it – When odd “glitch” problems like this develop try and disable all third party installed sceneries to see if the problem disappears. If the problem goes away you can slowly add back the sceneries a little at time until the problem comes bask, this will help isolating the problem. If the problem remains it is probity not in the add-on sceneries, you can then look in another place. To temporarily disable all add-on scenery: FS9 --> Settings --> Scenery Library Uncheck all red checks in front of add-on scenery then reboot FS9. Add them back slowly if needed to isolate then reboot FS9. This is a desperation suggestion, good luck Jay
