  1. I apologize if I have this in the wrong forum, but I do not see a spot where I know it might belong. I am having this problem with active sky environment in both FSX and FS9. I have posted this on the Active Sky forum as well. I thought it might get more exposure here and someone might know a solution. Yesterday, when I tried to start Active Sky Environment, I get the following error message: "ASE has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." 1. Tried restarting the computer 2. Disabled antivirus and firewall 3. Tried the repair function for ASE. 4. Removed ASE and deleted the folder with all files 5. Reinstalled ASE Still get the same results. Notes: I am still running Windows 7. I have disabled all automatic updates to Win7 months ago. ASE worked fine until now. For good measure I saw that I still had Active Sky Advanced on my computer, so activated it and it works fine. I thought of going ahead and purchasing/installing the latest and greatest version of active sky, but am apprehensive that I might have the same problem with it. Anybody been down this road and know a solution. Thanks: RTH
  2. Found the problem and solution. On a wild idea, I looked into restoring previous dates. I found that on 7/18 3:41:20, a restore point had occurred a few hours before I experience the problem in question. I restored to an earlier time choosing that update. weather loading was restored and the problem is no more. I then looked at my update history in all programs/windows update, and found an update dated 7/18/2021 3:41 AM. which I assume confirms the source of the problem. the update was "Security Intellegence update for windows Defender Antivirus K9155977 Version 1.343,1200.0. (I don't even use this, but ESET Internet Security for my firewall and antivirus protection, which I highly recommend). I hope this helps someone else. Now a bit of trivia which may or not be credible, but I think is well worth consideration by Windows 7 users. A friend recently told me that the windows updates we still get for Windows 7 without Microsoft support do not necessarily come from Microsoft, but from third party contributors or elsewhere and could be suspect. As a result of this experience, I have changed my options from receiving and updating updates automatically or being downloaded and letting me choose when to update to letting me choose when to download and update. Possibly a better choice may be to deny totally. I have discovered that even when I choose to let me download, but choose when to install the updates, that it still installs the updates if the computer is shut down and restarted. Respectfully: RTH
  3. I have posted this on the hifi forum, but thought it might get more exposure here. If I picked the wrong FlightSim forum I apologize, but subject wise I could not find anywhere it specifically fit. Being that the problem appeared first for me in FSX, I have included it here. For the past 24 hours when I try to startup Active Sky Evolution, I get the following error when I click on either FSX or FS9 in the "Please select initial FS Version" window of ASE. "ASE has stopped working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." "Debug" and "Close Program" options are displayed. Nothing happens with "Debug" and "close program" closes the ASE window. I was all set to delete and reinstall ASE, but for good measure, I tried FSX and FS9 "Real World Weather". I get the following message in either: "An error occurred while downloading real world weather. Please check your internet connection." Internet is working fine, and my connection is what I am using to contact you. In a search I found numerous posts relative to this issue in past years which seemed to clear up shortly and were attributed to servers being down. I see no current posts, but it made me wonder if common servers or the like for weather data are down now before I start changing things. I have tried restarting the computer, FSX, FS9, and ASE. I have also tried disabling my firewall and antivirus protection. Up until about 24 hours ago, ASE worked flawlessly for years and I love it. The FSX and FS9 weather did too, although I rarely peeked at them as obviously being far inferior to Active Sky. I have made no additions, deletions, or changes. I am using Windows 7. So far I have seen no other complaints on HIFI's or any other forums. Any information or comments on this issue? Thank you for your attention. RTH
  4. I stand corrected. Thanks to a reply on another forum, the Captainsim C-130 is available for FSX. Respectfully: RTH
  5. Unfortunately, Captainsim no longer supports this bird, so I thought I would see if anyone here has had this experience and knows a solution. I have tried all of the suggestions on the Captsim forum and website with no good results. I also downloaded and tried to install fresh downloads. When I try to install this plane and/or the base Boeing 757-200, I enter my order numbers and then when I click to go to the next step, I get the following error message: "Error code #11. Please report to: support@captainsim.com. One or more error4s were found in the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate sent by the server." I have everything backed up, so I tried simply copying my backups of these planes. Everything works fine, but the planes have no landing gear. The props disappear too once the engines are started. This is only the case in FS9. The 757-200 installs with no problems in FSX, but unfortunately, The C-130 is not available for FSX. Any ideas? Thanks: RTH
  6. Mystery of mysteries! I guess it was just Murphy. Got up this morning, clicked on WideFS, started FS2004, and WideClient immediately connected. RTH

  8. Thanks so much for the reply JSKORNA I got my hopes up even though I new this was not the solution.. On the last round where I reinstalled everything, I just forgot to register it. On earlier tries I registered with my old key after quite a search to find it. Thereafter I have used the free key provided on the FSUIPC download page, IUT7 DBMK 1EU!1 (Being that it is free and published I assume it is alright to list it here.) I just registered again, and have waited for an hour and am still getting "Waiting for a connection". I do show registration in the FS9 modules display now in FS2004. Thanks again, but I fear this is not the solution,. RTH
  9. Posted just now I made this request on Peter Dowson's Support Forum. Unfortunately, WideClient is no longer supported for FS9 (FS2004). The Dowson's were kind enough to reply anyway suggesting an incorrect IP address, or firewall prevention. The best and biggest advice was as always to Read the manual. So I decided to post this on FlightSim to see if possibly anybody else had been down this road and had any other suggestions. Framerates have slowed down over time for me at high density locations in FSX and I have not yet searched for the cause yet. It's been a long time, so I thought I would install FS2004 again and take a peek. It flies beautifully anywhere. I realize scenery is nowhere near what it is in FSX even with UT, FSGenesis, and a number of other addons, but at high altitudes this becomes somewhat academic. For low and slow, I will stick to FSX. I have the Dreamteam, Simflyers, and quite a few more third party airports, so that is not much of an issue. It's kind of fun, particularly to be able to fly the Dreamfleet 727 and Baron along with a few other old favorites that didn't make it to FSX. My problem is as follows: FSX and FS9 are installed on unique harddrives on my primary computer. I have FlightSim Commander installed on a secondary computer. Implemented by the FSUIPC / WideClient programs (Peter Dowson). I cannot get WideClient to connect to FS2004. Note that everything works beautifully in FSX with no problems at all, so we know both computer talk to each other. I don't quite have it memorized yet, but I have been over the manual repeatedly for the past few days, I have downloaded and reinstalled FSUIPC 3.999z9 and WideFS6 (several times). I am sure the specified files are installed in the correct locations. Surely I wouldn't make the same exact mistake or typo so many times. I also double checked after each step. My IP Address is correct. Antivirus and Firewall provisions have been disabled. I have restarted both computers after every step. Although it proved futile, I did edit the WideClient.ini file to include ServerName=Office-PC (The host computer server name), and Protocol=TCP as instructed on page 4 of the manual as a possible solution. Any suggestions? 10. Thanks everybody for the kind replies. The Nav 1 and Nav 2 lights do light up when those audio selections are made. Volume is turned up to 100% on the audio panel (was at 50%). I have started up outside of my default flight, same thing. Negative on audio morse code for ILS as well. Now to throw in a little stuff: I have the Reality XP GNS530 GPS and GNS GMAGTX Audio Panel installed in all of the aircraft I normally fly. This unit will negate actuation only on other panels, for example with the King Radiostack or any Microsoft default audio panels. However when NAV 1 or NAV 2 or any of the other selections are activated on the Reality panel, they will also light up on the other panels. I don't believe this is the problem as I have had this arrangement for years with no morse code audio problem until recently. In addition to this, I have selected a Microsoft aircraft which I never fly unless trouble shooting that does not have the Reality unit or any other modifications. Again all lights illuminate when selected on the default audio panel, but no sound relative to the morse codes. thanks again folks! RTH
  11. For some reason I no longer hear the morse code audio identifying my VOR stations. All communications and displays work fine. I also hear the approach marker signals fine. This is true of all aircraft and locations. No biggie but I do wonder why. Any ideas? Thanks: RTH
  12. Mark: I tried no wind, and 30kns from both 90 and 270 degrees and saw no difference. Hossfly68: I have not flown a default plane in decades except when trouble shooting, but I have touque and P factor turned off. I am happy that thanks to BF Bullpup on another forum, I believe I have a solution. I use the CH Pro Pedals for steering. I checked the settings in FSUIPC and found that in the neutral position there was quite a bit of noise. These footpedals are noted for getting broken wires. I have splices on more than one occasion, the last probably a couple of years ago. A failing pot is also a possibility. In any case I set the neutral null zone above the noise level I was seeing and have no problem taxiing in a straight line now. Thanks for the suggestions. RTH
  13. Success! Thanks to cmpbellsjc on another forum, we have the solution. He pointed me to my GSX installation. I did an FSDT Live Update and have my tugs back. Thanks for the suggestions. RTH
  14. Some of the time taxi steering is very stable, at other times wants to wander either left or right. I see a number of posts relative to P factor and torgue, but rolling at idle throttle or particularly with a jet this should not be a problem on the ground. Under Realism Settings, P Factor, and Torgue are turned off. Now what really is strange: Upon landing at my destination airport, taxi sensitivity is always very stable and the aircraft will taxi in a straight line. This is not aircraft, location, or flightplan specific. By that I mean with any aircraft or same conditions, this problem may or may not show up. Respectfully: RTH
  15. I realize that at some airports, particularly addons, tugs may not be displayed at a gate. I am just now realizing that I have no push-back tugs displayed anywhere, including gates that I am sure were available in the past. Note that the other ground vehicles are displayed like luggage tugs and trailers. Under options>settings>display I have Airport Vehicle Density set to maximum (full right). My "GroundVehicles" folder is still there, and to my knowledge I have never opened it before. I am not sure exactly what they are called as I do not see the term "push-back" for anything. Best guess is "VEH_tractorCab". I have backups from when I am pretty sure this problem did not exist. I renamed "GroundVehicles" and copied one of the old folders and cranked FSX up again. Still no tugs to push back the aircraft. Respectfully:
