  1. I have read all about it in the past years, but, as you say yourself "there is a way!" Why aren't we knocking on the door of the developers to "keep FSX interesting" and up to date with the times. Look at the evaluation of the PC through the years and when Windows95 came out you had the MSFlightsim 96 (still got that CD aswell as the diskettes from Flightsimulator 4.0). I think what has kept the FlightSimWorld alive and thriving is all down to the "developers" but more so to the users who created and expanded the FSX with addons, to what it is today! As long as FSX continues to run on 'today's' machines, we should expect the "developers" to upgrade the code or make it editable for the variation of end-users who have superfast machines, not that mine is... but compared to the windows 98 "second edition" standard PC. We could not even imagine the computerworld getting so fast. Fast yes! But not this fast! Dovetail did do a good job, I think we can be greatfull to them for having a hand in keeping FSX going in Windows 7,8 and 10. Shame they didn't tackle the issue of 32bit to 64bit then. So it IS possible to convert the 32bit to 64bit hmmm. Where can I vote? :) Sorry Loki, I know you mean well. It's a shame though, if you look what has been developed for FSX over the years and there will come a day when FSX won't work on the modern PC, what a waste! The other day I glanced at the FSX Tracker site, it blew my mind to see all the online users around the world active in FSX at any given time. Sooner rather than later they will all rollover to the FS2020. 'The Next Generation'. Well it's worth a try atleast? If it wasn't for my 3D graphics program I could very well not have gone to all the trouble of upgrading. Back to reset the settings to what will work comfortably with (4Gb) FSX! LOL Mealone
  2. Hi all, Instead of starting a new thread, I'll come here. (as being it's recent and...) As I read this post I thought about my issue. "IndianTrollBoss" Started this thread by asking is the steam edition could solve his problems, over the boxed edition. I have recently seen the limited RAM that the SE uses and imho there is not much difference to the boxed edition. OK, the 1Gb is more but, the graphics are larger than we used to use in the good old days. Tried the settings of Boxed, yesteryear and FSX-SE today, this was the last 2min result from FSUIPC4: 19275609 **** Restarting traffic scanning due to non-reception **** 19282500 Memory in use: 4006Mb, Avail=90Mb, MaxFreeBlock=1Mb 19282500 **** WARNING! Just to have 60Gb sit there and do nothing about it!? After reading thead after thread, I'm sort of conviced this wish will not come true for FSX. Not ready to buy the FS2020 for the moment and its over 80Gb standard, no addons! Sorry for the rambling on..... Is there anyone who can shed some light on getting more RAM into FSX? Mealone
  3. Fantastic news, my friend! I feel like having a PARTY to celebrate :o Really nothing more I can say about this issue! *Users (as in the C:\users\name\appdata\microsoft\fsx(-se) folder. Users for short!)* Anyway, Glad I could be of help, and thanks to those who came before me on this topic. Now all I need to remember is where I posted this mini guide. (and my login!) :p Mealone
  4. More than likely I used the SimConnect.ini from the FSX main folder. As this had the same date and time I installed the FSX. As mentioned before, I found the propsimconnect.xml under the FSX\propdefs. This remains the same as the versions found in the SDK folders (according to the date and time) I do hope this works for you, me and visitors to the forum who have the same trouble. I'm not much of a tech freek but I am thinking about making a "batch file" that in the future, all of this can be automated, That would be awesome
  5. Back again :) I'm not sure, I think This was the latest version I could find (according to the date and time, compared to the xml and cfg files). What I did forget to mention (sorry Snoot) and could be very important! I then deleted the fault 's in the dll.xml (a clean start) And more important maybe for you: I'm not sure if I added the file or FSX but, in the GUAGES folder I found "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" I copied this one from the SDK folder too. This way all the SimConnect versions are all the same! mealone :pilot:
  6. Hi Snoot, Searched the Net, It seems they all know how, but don't tell you directly how! very frustrating. I did a complete overhaul of SimConnect, renew the ini, cfg and xml located in the users and docs folders using the original files from FSX-SE\SDK folders. After doing the reinstall withe the FSX-SE\SDK......SimConnect.msi simconnect.ini to user & docs folders overwriting the previous simconnect.xml to the users folder (Found in the SDK folders) simconnect.cfg to the docs folder (Found in the SDK folders) This worked! SimConnect is up and running. I added the Simconnect.ini to my doc\FSX folder so I could (when starting FSX a cmd-window appears) see what gets loaded and what was faulty. I'm not on a network and don't multi, so I didn't need to add any port's or IP's. I may have changed IP to 127.0.0.1 and Port 5000. Just to make sure it has some sort of address. My C-182t was still a complete wreck, but I'm planning on reinstalling that after I uninstall this one completely. Who knows, it might work! I do hope it works for you or even the windows repair, do let us know here? whatever you find. mealone :pilot:
  7. Hi guys, Just jumping onto the wagon here,If I may? I was looking for a Simconnect trouble solver and came across this thread. I have the same problem after reinstalling FSX-SE. My C-182t is destroyed (unable to fix) I know I didn't crash it on my last run! It seems this is a simconnect issue. Post #4 Tried it, didn't change a thing, I even used a copy of the old one (I used succesfully) from previous FSX-SE installation. Still no luck! Just like 'Drooped Snoot' I'm out of idea's. I do hope you can shed some light on the matter and it may help me too. If by any chance I find a solution, I will gladly post it here, this is the second time I've come across this trouble. But my Date-of-birth prevents me to remember most things. Mealone
  8. They said there are no objects like in FSX. This is height mapping and photorealistic, well that's what I understand. It's a bit too technical for my brain (at my age) :pilot: Maybe it's the photo's that will take up the space on HDD/SSD.
  9. Good idea! I wonder if Microsoft will choose a forum and give the Simmers a chance to name the next version by vote? Like they mentioned "The Last Windows Version" about Windows 10, after looking at the demo, this was my first thought. Maybe this will also be the last version of Microsoft Flight Simulator?! They said themselves that 'Microsoft Flight' was a flop! Did the change of name have anything to do with it? Who knows? Why continue with MSFS? Just give it a real name like "SKYLINERS" or "SKY-X" or . . . ? (No, I didn't grow up with the doowop groep, although I could have.) :o
  10. Hi Guys, Talk about going 'Off Topic'! This thread started with "what kind of rig are we expected to have to run the New MSFS? BTW yes I also have the Original Ancient Handbook and still use the rulers that came with it. :)
