  1. Whether with or without a VC Project Airbus still gets the full thumbs up from me! Hopefully you will discover how a VC can be added. However I do see why your preference towards VCs stands as I too prefer 'real as dammit' levels of operation.
  2. Hello Everyone. Hope you are well. Recently I have noticed that every time I select 'Download Real World Weather' on FS2004 I receive an error message saying that I am not connected to the internet. I am a Broadband user with a reliable and paid up to date service  ... Please does somebody know what is actually going on here? Also any suggestions as to a remedy or alternative for continued use / availability of real world weather? :(
  3. Not sure so I will need to jog my memory but I have this from somewhere on my FS2004 along with the British Airports (UK2000 Scenery Freeware now) rendition of Crosland Moor. Used to fly from Crosland Moor 'International' as most of nearby Golcar jokes about this location being and many happy memories of glider flying especially appear in my logbooks. Also have Emley Moor TV Transmitter which is nearby standing at a height of 1024 ft above ground level ((IIRC the top is 3024 ft MSL.) As once seen on a Severe Clear from around 45 miles away from where this is located: Think almost the same distance as Manchester is from Leeds! I will try my best to remember where the 'Galpharm' scenery came from.
  4. Yes. This all began three months ago for me and now means I need to spend 10 minutes before every flight compiling my own weather! Very annoying considering how it was readily available when this link worked.
  5. I used to be a fan of Ultimate Traffic for FS2004 despite spending three months seeming to witness loads of AI aircraft either in formation or chasing one another. Then I began to realise what I was seeing when duplicate ATC messages confirmed what I suspected: I was literally seeing double! IIRC what I did was switched the programme over to 'Run as an Administrator' and before I knew it normality had returned. Unsure precisely what had happened or was going on. But I'm sure this was how I overcame all this. Hope you get this sorted out soon.
  6. I think G-CIVB was the final selection by the Carrier for this colour scheme. Never mind there will have to be a spot of 'poetic license' attached to my usage of the British Airways Retro Lumps in FS2004 ... Darned if ANYTHING is going to ruin my chance to fly all of these now they are all on the POSKY Boeing 744. Very grateful this was even thought of - the person responsible will hopefully be in for several years' good luck!!!
  7. G-BNLY wears Landor according to the Gemini Jets new releases announcement for next month. Model coming out in 1/400 Scale.
  8. Is G-BNLN still with us? Thought that would have been pulled from service by now but I could be wrong? :o)
  9. The Gemini Jets model in 1/400 Scale is extremely nice but selling out fast. The next one from them announced for release in June 2019 is G-BNLY carrying 'Landor' ... Whoever decided to put these Retro colour schemes on the latest POSKY Boeing 747-436 deserves seven years' good luck by the way! :o)
  10. Steady on there as I think some confusion may have arisen somehow. The cockpit screenshot looks more like a 2D Panel as opposed to a virtual cockpit on the grounds of how the perspective looks and how the virtual cockpit perspective which I am aware of in FS9 appears to be different. Having downloaded this I will take it for a tootle and see what is available and where. The description states that there is a 2D panel included which I will look for even if I don't end up using it. Intention is to ally this aircraft up to a different payware McDonnell F-4 panel which I have had for years now and in terms of it working I know I can trust this and the sound files I also have from this same direction.
  11. May I (politely) disagree about this aircraft proving problematic especially to this avail ... However I am aware that prior to me transferring it to my FS9 (FS2004) Aircraft file I modified this version so only one texture file / livery was carried. I also allied up the panel to the default Learjet 45 instead of using what is included in this base file. Mostly because the FS9 crashes I have experienced occurred when a custom panel which featured custom gauges which I was unfamiliar with was in use: Both FS9 and FSX versions of this feature this - maybe my decision could possibly explain why I did not experience what BillyBoy did - I hope you were able to either fix or overcome what happened :o) :o)
  12. The base models recommended for this reskin (TOMA333B ant TOMA333B-1) are for FSX only. This needs to be repositioned in amongst the FSX files and not in the FS2004 or FS9 files which is where I found it.
  13. As the UK wakes up today on October 2nd 2017 we are being greeted by some extremely sad news: Monarch Airlines (ZB or MON) has ceased operations and is in administration. Monarch was the UK's fifth largest carrier and it's failure has stranded an estimated 110,000 people overseas. It is the largest UK carrier to enter administration whereas last year it came upon the very brink of collapse but was saved at the last minute by a new investor. The Final Monarch Flights For Me On FS2004 / FS9. Over the last 48 hours as I feared the worst I crammed two Monarch Airlines rotations into my flying itinerary. The first flights completed a rotation between Manchester / MAN and Larnaca / LCA using the Project Airbus A321-232S G-ZBAI. Flights ZB535 MAN to LCA and ZB536 LCA to MAN chalked up a total of 8 hours 35 minutes in the air so slightly in excess of one day's duty time in real life. Made the excuse that I was on duty with an Opt Out Waiver in force permitting me to exceed the mandatory 8 hours 00 minutes maximum duty time by 0 hours 45 minutes in both directions! Logged on September 30th 2017. Yesterday the second flights completed a rotation between Birmingham / BHX and Barcelona / BCN using the smaller Project Airbus A320-214 G-OZBX. Flights ZB875 BHX to BCN and ZB876 BCN to BHX chalked up 5 hours and 15 minutes in the air and involved a go around / missed approach to be flown at BCN due to conflicting traffic. No waivers were in force extending duty time today as this was not required and this has indeed turned out to be the final Monarch flight that I am likely to carry out on FS2004. Logged on October 1st 2017. Monarch Airlines Repatriation Flight Idea. With an estimated 110,000 customers to be repatriated up to 30 aircraft have been chartered by the UK Civil Aviation Authority to mount the biggest operation of it's kind ever seen in the UK. Carriers known to be involved are Qatar Airways who are using five Airbus Narrowbodies and BAW flight numbers along with Titan Airways and Canadian carrier Air Transat. These will be augmented by input from HiFly and Wamos Air so far with two other carriers yet to be confirmed as involved. As Monarch Airlines was preparing for the same last year Air Transat was readied and three Boeing 747-422s from United Airlines positioned within Europe ready to stage an identical operation. So for the next two weeks any of these (except the United B744s unless poetic license enters the equation) aircraft one has or can download for FS2004 / FS9 will be flyable around what used to be the Monarch Airlines network! Should give rise to some unique flights being logged such as an Air Transat Airbus Widebody between southern Europe and Manchester International / London Stansted!
  14. Firstly I must apologise for my almost month long absence from this Blog. This has been due to the usage of my hands and arms at times being limited by me developing osteoarthritis. Confirmed officially in mid-September to be the reason I have been unable to hold my joystick and / or mouse correctly in order to fly successfully on FS2004. However the treatment I am receiving for this condition has now begun to take effect and allow me sufficient grip to use my joystick / mouse. So the good news is that after today's Fitness For Duty checkride with real life Certified Flight Instructor Sylvia Foxall signing me off I am able to start flying again. As many may already know I would have to undertake such an evaluation in real world aviation post suspension from duty on medical grounds although osteoarthritis would actually be a serious enough matter to ground someone. Much Appreciated Sylv! Today's evaluation featured the real world BE267 EDI - EMA / BE268 EMA - EDI rotation which is operated by UK regional operator FlyBe. It required the Dreamwings Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 turboprop for FS9 / FS2004 which is available from here. Departing Edinburgh Turnhouse / EDI at 18:50 GMT+1 the BE267 flight to East Midlands Airport / EMA had G-JEDI in the white FlyBe livery assigned to it. The flight took off during daylight hours but with an STA of 19:55 required a night landing to be made. G-JEDI with me as Pilot in Command made the trip in 45 minutes and arrived into EMA at 19:45 GMT+1. The return BE268 flight between East Midlands / EMA and Edinburgh Turnhouse / EDI was harder with an STD of 20:25 and STA of 21:30 dictating that this would be loggable as a night flight post completion. Having operated the outbound leg G-JEDI was assigned to the return leg of the rotation in order to keep things real. The aircraft was in the air for 59 minutes between EMA and EDI with a landing being made at 21:24 GMT+1 onto Runway 24 @ EDI. As a result I was signed off as Fit To Return by the CFI ... GET IN THERE!!! In return for conducting my evaluation flight(s) I was able to introduce Sylvia to something she has always wanted to try and master on Flight Simulator: Fast jets! So an hour was spent with the Simshed Folland Gnat TR1 trainer as once used by the Royal Air Force which an earlier Blog entry shows that I am now quite familiar with. This enabled us to change roles so now I played the role of IP or Instructor Pilot - P1 with Sylv now in the role of Trainee Pilot - P2. With a full load of fuel the Folland Gnat TR1 is able to master a one hour duration flying at height and speed and so I picked XR981 fitted with auxiliary fuel tanks on the wings for this task. The aim was to leave the now closed RAF Woodbridge (EGVG) airfield at 14:30 GMT+1 present day (there are two Folland Gnats preserved in the UK to airworthy standards) and head northwards across Norfolk and Lincolnshire with a block cruise clearance supposedly in force between 14,500 and 24,500 feet (VFR Westbound.) As this section of the trip was made and Sylv mastered the basics of holding 200 KIAS - 250 KIAS above 10,000 feet manually as well as discovered the trim tendencies (well replicated by Simshed) the decision was made to fly as far around the UK coastline as possible at 24,500 feet within the time remaining. Unfortunately this flight had to be curtailed at around the 45 minute duration mark because Sylv had to return home following a phone call from a colleague. So a successful landing was made after a swift but safe emergency descent was executed by me. Maintaining VFR we were able to put the aircraft down into ... Edinburgh Turnhouse / EDI! The second time we had seen this airport in the same day even if technically we had somehow travelled backwards in time to make this landing: Same Runway 24 via Visual Approach made at 15:19 GMT+1. So for that reason I reckon that two categories most certainly apply to this entry ... Real World Scheduled Flight and The B Side!
  15. On 22nd August 2015 the crash of Hawker Hunter T7 G-BXFI (WV372) brought an end to that year's Shoreham Air Show down in East Sussex. It was the deadliest UK air show accident since the 1952 Farnborough Air Show calamity in which de Havilland Test Pilot John Derry was killed. With 11 killed and 16 injured the event has never recovered and the accident itself has changed air show flying forever. What I was hoping for this year was to be able to commemorate this event somehow on FS2004 but worst luck my hands are playing up again. I have not been in the air on FS2004 recently or at least since my last London - Edinburgh BA Boeing 767-336ER flight because it is feared that I now have osteoarthritis. So I have hurriedly reassembled last year's tribute on my PC desk top involving the nine Red Arrows BAe Hawk T1s and the Eurofighter Typhoon to feel that at least I have done something to mark this event this year. I am still taking prednisolone for the problem in my hands / wrists and promise to be back with something better soon. In the meantime I hope you are all well.
