  1. Logitech and company, I hope you read this. I don't understand why Force Feedback yokes do not exist for flight sim (or at least I can't seem to find a decent one!). This is a known technology that has been in use for years with car wheels in games. Feeling the force on the yoke when you're turning or when you are in turbulence would add so much more to realism. However, the biggest problem is trimming your airplane. In a real airplane, you feel the pressure of the elevator releasing as you apply trimming. For example, on take-off, you must pull on the yoke to maintain climb speed (e.g. 70KIA on a C172). When you apply the trim, it gradually releases that pressure until you can let go of pulling on the yoke. The yoke stays where it is, that's what the trim does! It does not go back to its center detent! In a real plane, it is quite simple to see if your airplane is appropriately trimmed or not, as you have to actively push or pull on the yoke when it is not. In the current yoke systems, spring based, you don't feel anything. You have to try to guess, by looking at your instruments, whether you should let go of the pressure on the yoke and see whether you go up or down. Letting go of the pressure makes the yoke go back to its center point (which in an airplane it does not: that's what trim does, it keeps it there!!!). Anyhow, I wonder if I am clear enough and if such thing exist. But with a sim of the quality of FS2020, it would certainly be very worth it. I would pay for it as I'm sure others would. The current yoke actually break the immersion by their spring behaviors. I can't believe it would be that hard to build? Any views?
  2. What's your age gotta do with the age of your PC? If you're old, treat yourself with a young one!
  3. You're probably right about these being made in China. Seems to me that globalization was not that good an idea after all..... sight!
  4. I tried to find a thread that discusses this. It appears that all flight sim gear (yoke, panel, instruments, pedals, etc) are sold out everywhere I look. It has been ever since FS2020 was realeased. I would have expected a couple of weeks of delay, but there is not indication of how long this will last. Is it only me? Pandemic related? Any clues on delay lenghts?
  5. I guess what upsets me is that it has all these planes, a Sirus SR22, a Beechcraft Bonanza, a Diamond, but not a Piper, which is way more common in general aviation airfield than the above.... Why?...
  6. I flew a PA28-180 for over 12 years in real life so I have a little emotional attachment, but can't seem to find a good one for FS2020. It's a very popular airplane, with around 33,000 units built worldwide, and a strong competitor to the C172, but somehow I don't know why flight sim softwares don't have a good model to fly with.... I loved flying Cessna 172 and actually learned flying on these, but the Piper Cherokee has a special place in my heart! Anyhow, that's my rant for the day. If you can guide me to a good one, would be much appreciated!
  7. Just to give you an idea! Not too tempting to takeoff! At least, we don't collide with it!
  8. I'm blown away by the level of details of the FS2020 scenery. As a real-life pilot, this is the sim I dreamt about! However! (there is always a however in these kind of posts!) At my local airport, the airport beacon is position right in the middle of the runway! Although I am grateful that they went to the trouble of putting the truly existing airport beacon as part of the scene, it's not quite where it should be... And quite disturbing to have to rush through its pole as you are taking off! Is there any way to fix this?
  9. Guy, you should remember the days when we were downloading a file via a phone modem... those download times were common! Now, I started it before going to bed, the next morning it was there ready to play. Avoids the frustratio of counting how long! Take a sleep pill if you are too excited! ;)
  10. I reebooted computer and Flight Sim and all of a sudden it works.... I made sure winthin Windows' "set up USB game controllers" that the yoke is responsive and calibrated. Controls are not assigned, so a previous posters said, make sure you assign your controls to the left column. There are two columns, for dual controls. Frustrating.... Now that it's done, I wish there was a way for me to share it with you guys!
  11. I've been trying to use my old faithful CH-Product Yoke with FS2020, but I can't seem to configure it. There is no default configuration for this very popular yoke (not surprised, they want you to buy a new one!). But the config screen is unresponsive to the axies/buttons (when you press a button to assign it to the command). I assigned a Joystick L-Z-axis to the throttle, and within the sim nothing happens. Anybody with any luck with this? Or would someone be charitable enough to publish somewhere their default config that works? Thanks!
