  1. Thank you for that. I was unaware. A random job generator? Hmmm.... That sounds interesting. Can you tell me more about it, please? Or point me in the direction of your VA? Thanks! Jon
  2. Good evening all. I have been watching this area for a few years now, and have been mulling over an idea. Have visited several VA's, and have joined two. One is a good one with good people, and I enjoy being there. The other is...was the same up until about six months ago when the owners more or less just up and disappeared. Sooo, I thought more on this idea, and decided to post it here in its rough draft to see what might become of it. Is there a cargo type or charter VA that has a point to point operating system? This would be similar to driving a truck. You leave your base (wherever) and fly to your first stop, where you pick up your "load" and take it to stop number two. You then pick up a "load," and take it to stop number 3, and so on. There would be periodic returns to base for scheduled maintenance, or any other thing the powers that be may require. This allows you to spend much longer times away from the home base, seeing new sights, etc., without the "fly out, fly back, fly out, fly back scenerio which does a pretty good imitation of mirroring my day job... Ha! I'm not complaining at all, mind you, just looking to see if anyone had/has the same idea in their VA. Thank you for your time. Jon
  3. Don't know if it will help you or not, but almost all my flying is done with tail draggers. Specifically the DC-3. I found that by leaving a bit of power on and maintaining a slightly lower glide slope, that my bouncing is fairly well negated. Using the DC-3 as my example; Final is at 100. Enough power is maintained to keep that speed. Flare begins just over the threshhold of the runway. Speed bleeds off smoothly and at the moment of touchdown, throttles are pulled back, flaps are raised, heat is off while pushing forward on the yoke. I still occasionally bounce, but usually that's because I got in a hurry and flew it onto the runway. Most landings are pretty smooth. Hope this helps some. P.S. I solo'd at 18.1 hours back in 1990 in a 1969 Cessna 150 in Salina, Kansas' Kansas College of Technology. Still got the back of my shirt in a drawer.
  4. Good afternoon! Thank you for responding. I could fuel up as was suggested, but where is the fun in that?😄😄 Jim, could you explain a "plan G" and how to use it, please? I have never heard of such a thing (Par for my course😒). Tom, I have had do do such a thing when the airport had a fuel depot, and no matter how I positioned the aircraft, the darned thing wouldn't refuel! But if I can, I would prefer to use a fuel stop if possible. By the way, I downloaded your Santa Fe rendition of the Douglas DC-4. Beautiful aircraft! Thanks!
  5. Good morning all! Here is my question. I have a plane that I would like to do island hops out in the Pacific. I know how long my plane can fly (which is not all that long), so I have been plotting my hops to islands that have fuel. This is very time consuming as when one zooms out on both the gps and/or the maps, several of the airports, of which some have fuel disappear. I have to resort to: go to an area, zoom in until something (or nothing) shows up, do this repeatedly and plot my course accordingly. This is very frustrating. Is there a better way of knowing which airports have fuel without all this trial and error? I don't have any particular destination in mind, just out seeing the sights. If that puts anything into perspective. Thank you for your time, and hope everyone is covid free!
