  1. Although I don't have TrackIR - apparently it does have 6DOF - as stated on its page at: https://www.trackir.com/games/ Back in the FreeTrack days, a kludge to have 6DOF in FS9 was to copy the "TIRViews.dll" file from the TrackIR installation and place it into the FreeTrack installation directory. http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=2679 Unfortunately, FreeTrack does not work for me on Windows 10 - it installs but crashes as soon as you try to use it. So there only seems to be one option to have the full range of movement in FS9 and that is to buy TrackIR.
  2. I suspect we're not talking about the same thing. As far as I can ascertain Opentrack in FS9 (even with FSUIPC), cannot give you 6DOF (6-Degree of Freedoms): yaw, pitch, roll, and the axes: x, y & z. It may be that you are seeing yaw for example, which is a rotation of your view left and right, rather than what I'm talking about - the actual movement of your head left and right. This would mean, for example, that you could move your head (and body) to the left to the point that you were looking out and past your left window - actually having your head outside and looking at the side of the aircraft. Or raising your head to see over the panel of the aircraft - similar to having your seat raised - as distinct from just rotating your head upwards, say to view your overhead panels. The issue has been discussed previously, and the conclusion seems to be that 6DOF is not possible with Opentrack in FS9. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/625867-opentrack/ https://forum.simflight.com/topic/51353-setting-eyepoint-for-6dof-head-tracking/ https://forum.simflight.com/topic/97062-head-tracking-not-working-in-full-6-degrees-of-freedom/ However, anything is possible, so if somehow you've got Opentrack to work with 6DOF in FS9 - there would be many who would love to know how you were able to do this. 3. Thanks, dihedral2. Can you explain your setup? Are you using a smartphone as the camera? Using the PS3-eye camera, doesn't allow Opentrack to use the z-axis (the vertical up/down movement).
  4. Boeing B-314 Virtual Cockpit For those wanting to have the B-314 Clipper with a Virtual Cockpit, there is an FSX converted version with a VC by Erwin Welker. By applying a patch, you can revert it to an FS9 version with a VC! Erwin's version can be downloaded here: https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/202514-fsxp3d-v3-boeing-314-clipper The FS9 patch can be downloaded here: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Boeing314Clipper.zip Boeing B-314 Sound A sound package for the B-314 Clipper was made by Aaron Swindle from Skysong Soundworks (sb314_sound.ZIP though I can't remember where I got it from). The sound package was included in the FS2002 of the Sikorsky S-42A: https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/48931-fs2002-pan-am-sikorsky-s-42a/ and was also included in Michale Pooks' mod of the Clipper: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FSX_B314Clipper_Panel_and_Sound_Update.zip Paul
  5. It works, but it is limited (compared to using it in FSX). You can view from side to side, but it doesn't allow you to raise your head up or down eg. if you want to look over your panel more when landing.

    Landing Lights

Interestingly, there was a FS98 program called "Landing Lights Utility" by Siggy Schwartz that retrofitted landing lights to FS5 aircraft converted to FS98. A light definition file (a simple text instruction) was used for each aircraft.
  7. The link to download the package has changed. You can now find it here: https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/205496-fs2004-the-natural-world-2019/
  8. Please note that there is an updated version of this package, available here: https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/205496-fs2004-the-natural-world-2019/
  9. The Flight Adventures 1 for FS5.1 by Apollo is freely available from Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/apollo-flight-adventures-1 The Flight Adventures 1 for FS95 Upgrade is available from Simviation: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FS95_Flight_Adventures_1_Upgrade.zip FS95_Flight_Adventures_1_Upgrade.zip
  10. Additionally, there is a FS2000 Upgrade patch from Wilco for Airport 2000 Volume 1: you can download it from Simviation: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=a2v1_fs2000.zip If you experience a WORLD.VIS error when installing the Wilco Airport 2000 Volume 2 under FS2000, there is a fix issued by Wilco. You can download it from Simviation: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FS2000_Airport_2000_Error_Fix.zip I've also attached it here. To my knowledge, Wilco never issued FS2002 update patches for Airport Volumes 1 & 2, only for Volume 3. Also, regarding the Airport Volume 3 FS2002 Update patch, note that the patch will not allow the adventures from the FS2000 version to run under Flight Simulator 2002. 11. For those that are interested, here are links for downloading the original Wilco programs: Airport 2000 Volume 1: https://archive.org/details/airport-2000-volume-1 Airport 2000 Volume 2: https://archive.org/details/airport-2000-volume-2 Airport 2000 Volume 3: https://archive.org/details/airport-2000-volume-3
  12. There are some official updates from Flight One Software for Flight Director 99, they may possibly be helpful in fixing your problem: http://www.flight1software.com/updates.htm http://www.flight1software.com/fd992k.htm

  15. The issue of the security certificate message is due to the defunct M$ FSX-SE home page. However, the home page can be changed by replacing just one file "gshome.spb" in the "Dialogs" directory in the FSX-SE installed location. See the info and fix provided by bbogdansk here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/531161-fsxse-home-screen-has-changed-why/?do=findComment&comment=3853399 and also discussed here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/1/3211505894145290170/ Both versions of the replacement file offered by bbogdansk did not work for me, because M$ kept on changing their online "live" page, so I had to edit the file myself. 1. Need to change ...\FSX\Dialogs\gshome.spb - use spb2xml (available on AVSIM) to decompile to an xml file. 2. In the resultant gshome.xml replace the non-working web link to anything you like. Make sure that any online page does not have scripts (eg. all forum pages do), or you will get additional script errors. In my case, I changed the link to "_blank", in <HtmlDocument id="urlLive"><Filename>_blank</Filename> This refreshes to the default home page (urlocal) gs01.htm, located at ...FSX\uires\gs01.htm without going online at all. 3. If you don't like this outdated default "Home Page", you can change it to anything you like. Before compiling the xml file, change the urlocal file (which by default is gs01.htm, to something else, for example "f101.htm", which will show you the lessons straight away after loading FSX-SE. Or just edit the html to anything you want. 4. Using the "simpropcompiler.exe" in the FSX SDK (or Prepare3D SDK), compile it back to "gshome.spb". The above links and downloads will explain how to do this. In my case I opened a command line window and used the following command: Simpropcompiler 2spb –symbols C:\FSX\propdefs\*.xml gshome.xml gshome.spb but your setup might be different. 5. Replace the original gshome.spb file (after renaming it eg. gshome.spb.original). Note that an SPB file is just a compiled XML file, so you can test your new home page by just using the XML file, and if it works after loading FSX-SE, then you can compile it to make it a bit more 'efficient'.
