  1. I have thought about doing that but I would need to tell the panel.cfg where the gauge is to be placed. I suppose I could purchase panel studio but not sure if i want to spend money on just one gauge. Guess I'm just looking for a little more realism out of an already great panel. I read in another post where someone suggested the writer send G. Munro an E-mail, said he always responds. I might look into that, assuming of course I can find his E-mail address. I may just continue checking the PFD for the current MACH and adjust the IAS accordingly.
  2. Exactly and it is either missing or inop. I know it doesn't function under MACH.4, but I'm flying at M.76 and it doesn't work. When in click on it, the button is supposed to change to blue color. The same gauge appears in other panels and does function. I thought I could copy the gauge over but seems that isn't in my job description LOL. I have downloaded the same file from other web sites and no difference. Does it function on your computer?
  3. I have been using G. Munro's excellent panel but noticed the IAS-MACH Switch gauge is missing. I have reviewed the download but don't see it anywhere. Has anyone else noticed this? Appreciate any help or info and thanks.
  4. To Top Gun, thanks for your interest but after hearing from Tiger1962 I purchased DX10 Scenery fixer. It seems to have fixed my problem. Only reason I was curious about dxtbmp was I like to experiment and get my hands dirty (so to speak).
  5. Gotcha, that's kinda what I was thinking but wasn't sure, just needed some validation and thanks. Just curious, could I use "dxtbmp" to convert the textures?
  6. I did not know about DX10 scenery fixer. I will check it out but to be clear, my scenery works fine. With the new laptop, checking the DX10 preview button on or off is the only way I can see some of my airplanes, for example, the ProjectOpensky B747-400 (BCF), sim "Boeing747-400BCF-GE-ProjectOpensky.air", model "OSX744BCFV4_CF6-80.MDL" will display only when DX10 Preview is checked on. If off, I will see only a few parts of the airplane or when on the ground, just a shadow. It should not be this way. There is a problem somewhere, I just can't figure out where. Maybe I'm missing something.
  7. I'm having a problem with display of aircraft in FSX. I recently found it necessary to replace my old laptop, so I bought a Dell Inspiron 16 model 7610. In order to have aircraft display properly, I need to keep bouncing between Preview DirectX 10 on or off. Some airplanes display perfectly and others will show only a shadow on the ground or only some parts of the plane or the plane will show as completely white, devoid of any texture. Has anybody other than me had or is having this problem? DirectX should be backwards compatible. It's possible that I need to change the video card settings, but don't have any idea where to start. The specs of my system are: Dell Inspiron 16 model 7610 Windows 11 Home 64-bit NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU Display Mem= 6Mb System Mem-32Mb Version of DirectX is 12 Ultimate I have considered switching to MSFS2020, but I like the variety of aircraft available in FSX, also, I have a sizeable investment in scenery. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks
  8. I've decided to just pass this airplane by as I have found another model using Posky but by a different author. It's perfect although I did have to tweak the CFG file. It's all good. Thanks
  9. I recently downloaded the Skyspirit 2012 UPS B747-8F from "fs-freeware.net". This particular model is missing the windscreen so that when viewing the airplane, there is just a big gap instead of a windscreen frame. Other downloads from fs-freeware.net are perfect. I know this is not a big deal but the airplane looks odd without the windscreen. So I'm really curious, has anybody else noticed this? If so, were you able to fix it? Thanks in advance for your interest, comments and advice.
  10. Thanks to ALL who essentially came to my rescue. I guess it's a bit comforting to know that weird things happen to all of us at one time or another. Apparently, this us unique to the "Deluxe" version only. Shoulda bought "Gold" to begin with.
  11. I have a problem with installing FSX that I've never seen before. I just purchased a new computer, a Dell Inspiron 16 Plus. The OS is Win 11 which acts a lot like Win 10. When I first received the new laptop, I did install FSX, it worked perfectly but I decided to put the OS on a 15GB 2030 M.2 that I received at no cost. That's when things went South and I had to reset my system and I can't install FSX. Anyway, here is my problem: The installation goes through the entire process but at the end, the installation stops, gives me an error 1722 and references MSI.CHM. So I looked up MSI.CHM and found out it has to do with corrupted DLL files. I'm at a loss. I know there are a lot of computer gurus that are flight sim enthusiasts in the community. Have any of you encountered this problem? If you did, how did you fix it? Would like to here from you. I know that I could simply update to the new MSFS, but I'm 81 years old and the learning curve is a bit steeper than I want to deal with at this point. Appreciate any help and thanks in advance.
  12. Oh Darn! That's kinda what I thought. You know, their answer is interesting. What's to stop the thieves from continuing to steal. Just a thought. Oh well, there's always TFS, UTT and AI Aardvark. Just wondering though, would it be possible to downgrade the texture(s) to DXT3 or similar using DXTBmp? Anyway, thanks for your answer and info. Have a blessed day.
  13. I've been trying to update my AI flight plans using AIG flight plans and aircraft library. I've been trying to get FSPXAI models and told to purchase at SimMarket. No problem with that but when I go to SimMarket I see models for P3DV4V5 and told that they are not compatible with FSX. Now I'm wondering, where can I get the FSX models? Any ideas or help from anybody would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Tower and ATC are announcing the runways correctly and f16jockey_2 was right. The numbers are painted on. Darn! Oh well, I'm not even going to fix that. Way above my pay-grade. However, I did step over to my FS9, and lo and behold, I have a Taipei scenery I purchased from FlightSim.com store. Forgot all about it. It has correct runways, perfect. So, I logged onto the store, found a version of same scenery for FSX. Bought it. It's all good now. Got what I was looking for all along, learned a few things and had a chance to chat with some real nice folks. I sincerely thank all who helped me figure this out. Have a goodun ya'll
  15. OK folks, just about got it fixed. I played around with the location of the PacSim package and wound up putting it in the addon scenery folder. In the scenery library, it appears as a separate scenery area. I made sure it was above "Addon Scenery". In almost every regard, it's working. One issue remains, the actual numbers on the runways are the old numbers. I thought ADE would take care of that. Guess not. So how do I get the actual markings on the runways? I have been using flight simulators ever since "Sub-Logic" and Microsoft were competing but this is first time I have wanted to get into the guts of the software (so to speak). Taiwan is my second home and was my wife's home, so I kinda want to get it right. Any help in wrapping up this little chore would be appreciated. I do want to thank all for your input. It was VERY helpful.
