  1. Version 1.0.0

    55 downloads

Martin's XB-51 competed for the contract to equip the U.S. Air Force with a new jet attack bomber to replace the A-26 Invader in the night interdiction role. The package includes authentic skins for five of the color and markings schemes worn by the first prototype during its long career at the Air Force Flight Test Center and ten speculative skins in the colors and markings of B-57 operators that would have flown the B-51 had it won the production contract. Model by David Wooster, skins painted by Mick.
  2. Version 1.0.0

    84 downloads

This package includes models of four versions of the Northrop "Flying Wing" bombers of the Classic Era: XB-35, EB-35B, YB-49, and YRB-49A for FS9. By David Wooster with skins by Mick.
  3. Version 1.0.0

    30 downloads

This is an AI-only version of our flyable North American B-45 & RB-45 Tornado. To reduce processing requirements the models have no VC, interiors or external stores, no water injection system on the RB, and of course no 2D panel or sounds. All of the original skins are present, but to reduce the number of models, some that differed from others in only tiny details have been omitted and their skins reassigned to nearly identical models. If you don't have it already, you can find the the full-featured flyable B-45 & RB-45 in the library here on this site. Models by David Wooster, skins by Mick.
  4. Version 2.0.0

    43 downloads

This is David Wooster and my old Martin T4M Torpedo Truck from 2006 upgraded with all newly repainted skins, benefiting from what I've learned about painting textures in the intervening seventeen years. Complete aircraft on both wheels and floats (you don't need the original version.) The old models don't have VCs but now the 3D model is visible in VC View so when you look outside you see the parts of the plane you would see from a real VC (but if you look down into the cockpit there's nothing to see.)
  5. Version 1.0.0

    57 downloads

This is part two of a two-part depiction of the B-45 and RB-45 Tornado. This part contains the reconnaissance planes. The North American B-45 Tornado was one of the most important American aircraft of the early Cold War period, and one of the least remembered today. It was the first bomber-sized jet bomber in service anywhere in the world, first jet to drop a live atomic bomb, first jet to cross the North Pacific non-stop (Alaska to Japan,) first jet to fly the North Atlantic (with stops), NATO forces’ first and for some time only nuclear deterrent, first reconnaissance plane to fly deep penetration missions over North Korea, the People’s Republic of China, and the Soviet Union, and first aircraft to routinely use in-flight refueling on combat missions. The package includes twenty models and three dozen authentic skins depicting every major variant and numerous minor and sub-variants as they appeared throughout the type’s service life. A detailed manual explains some of the type’s unique operational procedures. By David Wooster with some help from his friends.

  7. This is absolutely horrible. Either it's literally impossible to browse the library or it's so difficult that it's practically impossible. Either way, if this is how FlightSim is going to be, I won't be coming here anymore. This reminds me of a wise old proverb - if it's not broken, don't fix it. What existed previously worker perfectly and was easy and convenient to use. The new site is total garbage. Whoever is responsible for this debacle is in the wrong line of work and needs to be removed from the FS staff immediately. They have turned one of the most useful flight sim sites into a real POS. I'll check back in a week or so and if FlightSim still looks like this I will remove the link from my favorites menu and stick with SimV and AvSim to look for new planes and scenery. I cannot finds words to adequately describe how utterly dismayed and disgusted I am. The management of FlightSim should be embarrassed and ashamed. I wish I could offer constructive criticism but this garbage is beyond repair. The only criticism I can offer is destructive - put this mess in the trash where it belongs and go back to what we had before.
  8. The FTP upload problem has been fixed! The fix went in the day before yesterday but the news was announced in a post in a thread where many folks probably wouldn’t see it. So this is to put up a thread with a title line that will be seen by anyone who visits the Comments forum.
  9. I posted about this last week but I posted in the wrong thread. Apparently there was a problem about FTP downloads, something I didn't even know was possible, and didn't read carefully and put my post in that thread. Anyway, setting up a new computer, I tried to add FlightSim to the list of connections in Filezilla and kept getting messages that no connection could be made. I tried again after a few days and got the same result. When I highlighted the URL and copied it to paste into Filezilla, Firefox offered to open the link. Curious, I said yes and was welcomed to the home page of the Boston Area MG Club, a great site for aficionados of old British sports cars but totally unrelated to FlightSim. One might suspect that there are some crossed wires, or whatever the digital equivalent is of crossed wires, at FlightSim's web hosting service. Maybe if someone at the hosting service could be induced to look into that possibility it would become possible to upload to here via FTP again.
  10. I had no idea that downloading via FTP was even possible. I thought it was just for uploading. Now I see why there are comments that the problem was fixed. But all is not well, as it’s still not possible to upload via FTP, because it’s not possible to set up a connection. That might be because the Flightsim FTP address somehow leads to a completely unrelated site. Maybe that’s a clue to why FTP uploads remain impossible. It might also be a clue that the problem is not with Flightsim but with the web hosting service. Either way, I hope someone will get it fixed.
  11. OK, here's a head-scratcher for ya' I thought I'd try making an FTP connection to see if it was working yet, and when I highlighted ftp.flightsim.com to copy it and paste into the quick connection host window in Filezilla my context menu offered to open the link. Out of curiosity I clicked yes and I was welcomed to the Official Boston Area MG Club Website. Weird, huh? Curious indeed! I'm posting this for a chuckle, but also in the hope that it might offer a clue to whoever is trying to fix the problem.
  12. I saw this thread when I came to the forum to ask about an FTP connection problem and I see that it was a problem for others a week ago. At least this tells me that the problem isn't on my end. After most of this year without a real confutor, my new-build rig is at the point where I'm starting to load and set up software. Today I put in Filezilla and it couldn't connect with Flightsim using the information on the Uploads page. I had no trouble connecting with two other FTP sites. Since there hasn't been a post in this thread for over a week, I thought I should post this just in case anyone doesn't know that the problem continues, though I suppose that's already known and that it's being worked on.
  13. Updates every three days or so has been the case for a little while now, at least a week or two. Quite a disappointment after years and years of daily updates. I suspect it may be due to a lack of interest on the part of the new management. Sad.
  14. So, which of the many MSFS versions is this for?
  15. By now I suppose you've reached David at the address in the ReadMe. He might have some ideas. That sort of thing is beyond my understanding. - Mick
