  1. I'm having to do this now as I want to run FSX and all its add-ons from an external drive. I used to have FSX-SE installed but it kept on crashing and no one at Steam seemed to care, so they're out. Installing FSX and Acceleration the first time seemed to go OK, except when I ran it I couldn't get any of my add-on aircraft to work, and the add-on scenery looked rubbish (That was VFR's UK scenery package...) and it was suggested I did a re-install. The disc popped up with the 'Do you want to repair or Uninstall it?' question so I hit 'Repair'. What's the first thing it does? It removes the application!!!!! Why did it bother to ask me what I wanted if it was going to un-install it anyway? Having gone through that rigmarole it then told me some vital file was missing and I should re-install it all AGAIN! Needless to say it's now 'removing the application'. I think I may go back to model railroading,. or take up knitting. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.............. Retgards Kit
  2. Excellent, thanks very much gentlemen, I'll check those out. Regards Kit
  3. Has there ever been an FSX model of a DH Hornet? I mean the slimmed down single seat Mosquito, not the single engined cabin biplane Hornet Moth. I've searched everywhere and can't find a Hornet model for ANY sim, let alone an FSX one. And if not, why not? Regards Kit
  4. G-ALUN was the registration of the VERY large civilian flying boat airliner that Saunders Roe built in 1952. There were three of them but only one, G-ALUN, flew. It had SR.45 as its type no. and was about FIVE times as large as the three SR.A/1s, none of which never carried a civilian registration.
  5. It's a Skyshark, not a Skyraider. The Skyraider was radial engine and they made LOTS of them, whereas Douglas only made 12 Skysharks and they didn't go into service.
  6. Yes, that's where I found it, but it's pretty stupid the way they spread all these vital files all over the PC.
  7. You're right, I didn't delete that copy of the scenery.cfg file. But it's not where you indicated, if only because there isn't an 'All Users' folder anywhere. I've found two copies of it and two shortcuts to the file and all seem to be the default version, at least I think so. I did use the Scenery Library feature to remove my Addon Scenery before I filed them away on another partition. Anyway, I deleted the scenery.cfg file that Steam installed and copied the one on the C: drive across and IT WORKS! I've got real California and Nevada back and I've flown in and out of LAX and out to Catalina just to show myself that it's all working. Thanks to all of you who've tried to help me get out of craziness, I'm VERY thankful. Regards Kit PS I'll add all the other sceneries item by item and check after every one.
  8. This is getting ridiculous! I've now de-installed it, deleted the entire FSX file structure and then gone through the endless Steam re-install and it's STILL the same! And the 'Area 21' error is still there! How can that be, all the files are gone! I'm tempted to post a 'This product doesn't work' to Steam and try and get my money back!
  9. Nope, it's still just the same! But it's not surprising as that process doesn't actually delete the major files from my PC, the ones with the problems are still there. I'm going to go through the whole rigmarole again and delete the whole folder and drive and set it up again.
  10. Still no joy I'm afraid. I've removed every scenery addon and the Pacific is still a large land area from the same point as before. It looks to me like a complete re-install is the only answer, but how do I do that with the SE version? Regards Kit
  11. No joy I'm afraid. I followed the steps you posted, for which much thanks, and it went OK apart from the fact that there aren't any 'View options' top right with your step 3, but it didn't matter as FSX SE is the only Steam software I have. It said it had noted 53 files that needed updating and when I re-started FSX SE it went through quite a process of downloading and installing files and then made a new scenery list. Sadly Los Angeles and San Diego etc. still don't exist and neither does Nevada, and the land spreads way out to the west across the Pacific. :-( During the startup FSX SE said there was a Invalid Remote Scenery path error in scenery area 21 which I don't recall seeing before, but area 21 on my system is some VFR photo scenery of the UK. Regards Kit
  12. I'm running an almost new version of FSX SE with very few scenery addons, but especially none on the West Coast of the USA. From around 50 miles north of Los Angeles the Pacific Ocean suddenly turns into land, stretching out in a direct east-west line and away over the horizon! Various airports don't exist in the airports list either, LAX for a start! Also the entire state of Nevada isn't in there either. It's like an entire chunk of the scenery database has vanished. Any ideas how I can repair this please? Hopefully there is a screenie of the problem below. Regards Kit
  13. PL965 is a PRXI. A Mk IX is a fighter version.
  14. That's a Bell YFM-1 Airacuda in the pic...%u2026%u2026%u2026%u2026%u2026.
