Ok, let's give it a new try... So I looked for the old stuff from the "Cook Islands"... Still no "zip-dive", no good screenshots (like before) and no satisfieing information about the files available. Flightsim.com ist still totally worthless! Horrorable! But... great with good download speed - but if you don't find anything to download - what's it worth it? Dedl

Hmm, when I look at the number of new downloads and compare it with AVSIM, I notice a significant difference. Is it because of that I simply can’t find that section any more, or could it be that there is a quiet unappointed "upload boycott" going on, because fs community people don’t like to be involved in a public alpha-test of an "amazing" new forum software? The new site makes no joy visiting. Almost nothing works like before. If it works at all. I can not see the point in making a former very good thing so much worse! Dedl

Texture conversion can very easily also be made with Don Grovestines wonderful Texture Manager. Dedl

Hi Hans, talking about the conversation of Grand Rapids, I have to say, it was me who choose to convert these textures of the great FSX Scenery done by Dillon Rocque into DXT3. While it is possible for some textures to reduce them even further into DXT1, you have to check every single texture to avoid the results you discovered. I must admit that I was too lazy for that (except for the fence textures - but that is another chapter). I think, DXT3 ist a great compromise between 32bit and DXT1 that offers the best quality in relation to the quantity for a satisfied FS9 user. The other people may have their joy with FSX and CTD's and OOM's or whatever they like - with their simulators. Great to read that you also have come to this conclusion! Learning by doing! as they say. I have walked the same way as you. So, keep it FS9 Dedl P.S. And what the heck about long loading times. I know friends from the FS2004-Team who have more than 1500 sceneries active in their scenery.cfg. To fire up FS2004 gives you just enough time to get another Amstel-beer ;-) and enjoy your life... cheers!

Dear Dominik, I like that Flightsim.com still offers seperate sections for each simulator. To stay with FS2004 is mostly a result of our own yearlong expierience. That results in the fact, that we luckely very seldom have missionaries here in the fs2004 section telling us diehard FS9ers what we do have to like instead. On the other hand I guess the MSFS fanboys in their section apprechiate that too, to swim in their own lake with no sharks around. They will swim in another lake anyhow some years ahead.
