  1. So I fly to a beautiful lake in BC in the DH2 Beaver, land and park. I save the .FLT file. When I start the sim again a load the .FLT file it initially takes me to where parked, but when I klick "Ready to fly" it jumps me to the nearest airport 30 miles away . Is there a way around this?
  2. Duh, OK so its a constant speed prop, as you apply more power the prop goes to coarser pitch and absorbs more power and creates more thrust. Silly me. Geoff
  3. The DH2 is a great machine and its simulation in FS2020 is amazing, however I need educating on how the propellor / power settings work. I am flying along in cruise at 5,000ft straight and level with the MP at 26" and the propellor at 2000 rpm. If I push the MP to 30" the propellor remains at 2,000 rpm but the aircraft starts to climb. Why does this happen? the prop is still at 2,000 rpm? Conversely if I reduce the MP to say 21" the aircraft starts to descend, again the prop is still turning at 2,000 rpm. I am using the settings from the DH2 beaver in FSX, everything works just as its supposed to but I don't see why? The only way you can change the thrust is to change the propeller rpm... Geoff
  4. Thank you, which instructions? As far as I can seen unless you feel like paying for a manual there are no "official" instructions.
  5. Bear with me, I am just putting a toe in the water regarding the G1000 nxi autopilot on the Cessna 172 Watching various videos I had the impression that simply hitting the AP button with nothing else selected starts the FD and should hold the aircraft's current roll and pitch (ROL and PIT in the display). It certainly holds the roll but as far as I can tell not the pitch, am I missing something? Geoff
  6. I have had one of these for ages, (it works great with Google Earth and Sketchup) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/replacement_for/552473-REG/3Dconnexion_3DX_700028_SpaceNavigator_SE_3D_Mouse.html FS2020 recognizes it but any attempt to assign an action to it (e.g. drone camera would be great) results in silliness. I also have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro attached that works perfectly. Geoff
  7. OK thanks. Strange behavior for a "Simulator" the odd thing is that it works at some airfields and not others...
  8. So I land at an airstrip, taxi to parking, shut everything down, and save the .FLT file. When I restart and load the .FLT file the aircraft has moved to the active runway with the engine running and for some odd reason the flaps at first notch. Is there a way to have the aircraft start at the position and in the condition you left it? Geoff
  9. Sticking to local flights in the 152 for now, looks good, its been 10 years but the muscle memory seems to be there (once I turned off the AI "assistance" (what's that about?) I can still land, take off and park. Is the only way to shut down/start the engine the keys? (Shift CTRL E and CTRL E) I seem to recall that there was a clickable ignition switch in FSX. Maybe a different on other aircraft I guess? What does the "drone camera" do? (Insert) That's it for now, any assistance is welcome, its good to be back! Geoff
  10. Hi all, Getting back into this for the first time in a few years and I am about to download FS2020, I am going for the de luxe version (why not, I am old, retired, and I can afford it!) Any thoughts on Steam v MS Store? I am not a fan of Steam and was hoping to remove it from my PC. Also it seems the download is the same for XBox and PC or at least Xbox seems to be everywhere on the MS download site, I don't want to end up with the wrong version! Thanks for any thoughts. Geoff
  11. Greetings all, Played every version of MS Fltsim from v1.0 all the way through to FSX. Built scenery etc. and was a total devotee until MS closed the Aces studio. Gave it up, sold the MS Force Feedback joystick and drew a line under Fltsims. Now it seems things have restarted with MS Fltsim 2020 and I am considering having another go since I now have a PC that will run it. Some questions: 1. It looks wonderful - is it really that good? 2. Need a joystick, are there any force feedback joysticks for FS 2020? 3. How much do I actually need a FF joystick? The MS sidewinder was OK but not great and it needed a software wedge to make it work. 4. If not a FF joystick what's a good alternative? Thanks for any advice, Geoff
  12. I am returning to FlightSim again after several years away (last ran FSX). I really don't have space for a "desktop" PC, much less one with flashing lights and see-through sides. Is there a "mini-PC" out there that will handle FS 2020? I have a very nice large monitor and something that would sit behind it would be perfect! Geoff
  13. Yes, that's pretty much what I have been seeing, it is possible but you are looking at the very top end Macs and beautiful as they are, they are lots of $$$$$$$ Geoff
