  1. Dakar, Senegal - Lagos,Nigeria DRZA - DNMM Well this leg did not go according to plan. Everything seemed ok. Pre start checks went as planned and we took off and climbed up to our cruising altitude. We turned onto course and started heading for Lagos. Not more than 20 mins had passed when I noticed problems with the engines. The temperature had dropped rapidly in the cyclinder heads and carb air temp had plumited. This caused the engines to begin icing up even though Anti Ice was on. The engines lost power and the aircraf began to loose air speed and altitude. I made the decision to take the plane down to nearest airfield which at the time was a small town called Kaolack (GOOK). I turned the aircraft sharpley to line up with the runway but altitude was being lost to fast. We flew low over the town before it became obvious we were not going to make the airport. We finally brought the aircraft down in a grassland about a mile east of Kaolack where we rolled to a stop. Upon coming to a stopall engines were cut off and all systems turned off. Looks like some repair work needed now. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/Beoing%20377%20Leg%207%20Part%20A/af.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/Beoing%20377%20Leg%207%20Part%20A/ag.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/Beoing%20377%20Leg%207%20Part%20A/ai.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/Beoing%20377%20Leg%207%20Part%20A/ao.jpg
  2. Nah not at all, still is very responsive, however you know you a flying a heavy. She sometimes takes a while to turn but is different every time you fly. What 727 do you fly? I must admit i love that plane and the 707.
  3. The panel is brilliant. Very challenging by very rewarding. You are always busy, no such thing as turning on the AP and relaxing :)
  4. Right well you may all be wondering why I am starting with Leg 6 of my world tour. Well this is simply due to the fact that in Legs 1-5 it did not occur to me to take any screenshots or make any writings. Leg 6. Agadez, Niger - Dakar, Senegal DRZA - GOOY Very challenging flight. Bad storms all the way made for some challenging flying. The landscape was pretty flat most of the way although saw some interesting sights over the Massina region of the River Niger. We decended over the coast down into Dakar. Enjoy the pics. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/ad-5.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/ae-5.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/af-5.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff167/thomaspattison/ao.jpg
  5. Hi everyone, my name is Tom and this is my first entry into this Blog. I have been flying in the FS world for about 7 years and have spent a few of those years as a pilot for many virtual airlines. However, as of late I have found myself flying in and out of many airports that I have visited time and again. So i began to wonder about the other airports in the FSX world that I have never visited or never would and wondered what interesting places of the FSX world there are tosee and fly over, take off from and ultimatly land at. This is why I decided to under take a huge venture in doing a World Tour in FSX. This would not be a straight round the world flight but I would try and visit many places and locations I normally would never go to. I then thought about what sort of aircraft I wanted to do this huge journey in. My mind first turned to jet airliners in considering the vast distances that would be covered but I ultimatley turned them down as I felt i knew these planes too well and perhaps they were becoming common place. I wanted something a bit more interesting and a bit more challenging to fly. I then considered vintage airliners such as the 707, 727, DC-10 but decided to knock that on the head as again i felt that they did just not suit what I was looking for. Turning my attention then to smaller prop aircraft like Cessna of Beechcraft or even the Pilatus PC-12 but again after a few testflights I still had a feeling of them not being suitable. However I felt I was getting closer. I definatley wanted a prop aircraft rather than jet engine. I then looked at the Lockheed Constellation and the DC-4 but after a while testing returned these aircraft to their hangers. It was then after a long search I finally found the plane. I have decided to undertake this journey in the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser as modelled by A2A Simulations. I have also decided to make a blog entry as each of my world legs unfolds and post many pictures taken along the way. I hope you will check back often to see all these images and my writings on each leg. See you in the skies.
