  1. Since FlightSim rolled out its new look, I can't figure out how do former "advanced" searches. 2 examples: 1) how can I search for an aircraft and get only original aircraft (that is, not textures only, or AI planes)? And 2), how can I search for a specific file by filename? I'm looking for a good A330-300, and Thomas Ruth gets mentioned alot. I have his A330-200.zip, which I found by trial and error, but I can't figure out how to search for the file "Toma333B-1.zip" which gets mentioned a lot. But if I put the filename into the search, I get all hits that mention the file, and not the file itself. What am I missing? Thanks so much!
  2. Is there some trick to getting autothrottle to engage? All other autopilot functions seem to work, but not that. Aircraft.cfg seems to show that it's enabled. ??
  3. Sorry if this is missplaced, but here goes: Is FS9 on Win11 possible? I've been running FS9 on my Win 10 desktop machine for some time - quirky, but it works. But Microsoft keeps wanting me to upgrade (free) to Win11, which I have on my newer laptop. I'm worried that if I upgrade my desktop to Win11, then FS9 won't work. I tried installing FS9 on my Win11 laptop (basic install, not changing any options), and it won't run. I've not added the "nodisc" FSUIPC or the 9.1 or 9.2, but I thought I'd ask if that will make a difference. A quick web search gave a few hints, but . . . Advice? Thanks!
  4. Same problem for me. Running FSX on Win10. Love the plane in all other respects. Is it some setting?
  5. Well - update and solution. It ended up being a driver issue for my sound card. I chatted with Microsoft support and they had me download/install the driver update, and now everything seems to be working. FS9, FSX, Windows alerts, etc. Don't know why a Win10 update would mess around with the sound card driver - or why I didn't get an update message for the sound card - the machine is barely 2 years old. So, FS9 is reinstalled and working (I need to move my add-ons back). And, when I tested FSX during the chat, ended up that only some of the sound worked - engines, environment yest, but ATC no. But now it all works. Very strange. And kudos to MS (the company everyone loves to hate). Yasir on the chat was very helpful, and when I needed to re-start, he sent me a link so after the re-start I could connect back up with his chat. Very helpful.
  6. No luck, but thanks. Also, when I open the sound device itself it shows volume, and the bar moves up and down as volume seems to be changing. It just doesn't send anything to my speakers. So, I've uninstalled FS9 (after saving my add-ons to another drive & folder) and I'm going to do a full re-install . . .
  7. My Win10 did an update 2 days ago, and now I can't get sound in FS9. FSX works fine. I've run troubleshooters and I'm now getting an "incompatible" error. But up until the most recent update, FS9 worked fine on my Win10 machine. And FS9 works fine otherwise - just no sound. Is there a setting I need to fix? Thanks for any help I can get.
  8. Robin, Thanks so much. I'll try it and report back. Most of my add-ons are freeware (including lots from Flightsim) because I'm cheap. And even if I do have to re-install, I've gotten all that down to a science by now. Dan
  9. This may be my first post, so patience please? Thnx. I've been running FS2004 and FSX on my new Win10 machine - did the original install into the C:\programs, etc folder (default). But unlike on my previous Win7 machine, I've had tremendous problems adding AC and textures - in particular from Historic Jetliners Group (a great set of AC/panels/textures). They seem to install, but FS9 doesn't "see" them in the AC drop-down. I've always suspected there's something that Win10 doesn't like about FS9. So, I'm going to try to re-install to C:\root. Questions: Since all my FS files are already on the C drive (solid state, very quick, etc.), can I just copy/move them to a new Flight Simulator 9 folder that I create on C:\, and then move the associated data files? Or, should I just reinstall FS9 from the CDs and then copy the folder & subfolders? Not a huge problem to do a clean install, but wondering. Or, start from scratch, and install all my add-ons one at a time? Thanks - and if it's true that Win10 doesn't like FS9, then shame on them, right? PS - FSX seems to work fine in the programs folder - but I haven't tried many add-ons with that.
